Description: Located in the heart of the CBD within the 530 Collins Street Building is Mr Mason, a French inspired bistro and bar featuring a lounge outdoor terrace and dining area. Mr Mason is a modern French influenced menu but certainly not traditional. Playful twists on French classics are what we're all about. Using seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce we try and keep things fresh and exciting. The menu is designed to suit all occasions. We cater for those just looking for a light snack to go with their beer or wine all the way through to a 6 course tasting menu for the foodies amongst us. Mr Mason offers a wide range of drinks to suit all occasions and time of day. From an expertly made coffee to get your day started to a dessert cocktail to complete your dining experience and everything in between. Our wine list boasts both old world a new world and ranges anywhere between cheap and cheerful to the more complex and sophisticated.

“Great food and atmosphere”

Dined here with friends and we all really enjoyed our entrees and main meals (hapuka fish was excellent). Servings are quite generous so we couldn't fit in dessert. It has a really nice fireplace which makes the atmosphere very warm and inviting in Winter.

“Very Much Worth a Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2012

Nothing to dislike here! Reasonably priced for Melbourne, this is a popular CBD location on Little Flinders. Casual dining, large portions, one could not go wrong with the salmon tartare, mixed vegetables and creme brulee. Service was not only cheerful but very professional and helful on choices. Definitely worth a try..

“Food went well with the wine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2012

We went here as it was part of a wine club dinner. The winery supplied the wines ( how unusual) and the restaurant did the food. The food was very tasty overall and the wines chosen for the food were excellent. The event was well organised and the staff wer excellent.
The quality of the food was great and it is evident that a lot of thought went into the creative effort to produce the dishes that were presented for the event.

“Fantastic food and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2012

Mr Masons proved hard to find for my partner and I but was well worth it in the end. (you actually enter from little Collins street).
The french themed restaurant has a great choice of food and a small but comprehensive wine list.
The home made chicken liver parfait and salmon tartare proved great choices for starters, the chicken liver was particularly nice.
Crisp pork belly was cooked to perfection and was the highlight of the evening . That said the chicken breast was also lovely.
Whilst we certainly didn't need sweets we settled for a vanilla creme brulee to share and it certainly topped of a great meal.
This was all washed down with a bottle of Trout Valley Reserve Pinot Gris which was amoung the best wines I have had.
All in all a great night with prompt, courteous and friendly service. Would certainly return to Mr Mason the next time we are in Melbourne and thoughly recommend it. Maybe the only issue was that the music from the bar was a bit loud but certainly not worth complaining about.
