Owner description: The moment you step on a Winebus(R) tour you'll know you're in for a good time. We're not wine snobs and we're not into cross-country cruisin' and boozin'. We guarantee a relaxed day of sampling the magnificent wines of the Yarra Valley. We know where the vintages are. Your Winebus(R) tour guide won't bore you to tears with statistics, but they will share their knowledge of wine, especially the cool climate wines of Australia's Yarra Valley. You'll be visiting four wineries and enjoy a superb restaurant gourmet lunch. Chocolate tastings at Yarra Valley Chocolaterie. Your tour guide will take you on a winery tour of Domaine Chandon, showing you how the bubbles get inside a bottle of bubbly.

“Beyond expections - A must for any wine drinker”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

My friend and I went on a winery tour with Paul in January 2013. We are in our mid-20s from New York. Having toured many of the wine regions in the US, we had high expectations. Paul far exceeded them all.

We were in another region of Australia the day before when our flight was delayed at the last minute. Our new flight would have caused us to miss Paul's pick-up by 30 minutes. We called Paul very late the night before, expecting to leave a message, when he answered immediately. He went out of his way to find another pick-up point closer to the airport so that we would not have to miss out on the wine tour.

As if this wasn't wonderful enough, the experience itself was also fantastic. We were with two travelers from Europe and Paul made the atmosphere comfortable and casual so that everyone became fast friends. Paul was very knowledgeable about wine, but didn't drone on and on with dull facts. He gave just enough information to keep it interesting and educational before we got down to the best part: the tasting.

The wineries Paul chose were exceptional. It was obvious that he had great relationships with each as we got personalized, friendly service. The quality of the wines was also excellent, and the place where we had lunch superb. As a couple of foodies from New York City, we are hard to impress--everything was delightful.

In short, you can't go wrong with a Winebus tour. I almost couldn't believe how luxurious it all felt for the money. This was one of the highlights of our few weeks in Australia. Thanks, Paul, for an incredible experience!

“Truly an excellent excursion”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

The Winebus is a 13 passenger van, driven by a fine gentleman named Paul, and booked by his wife. It appears to be a truly high quality mom-and-pop business. Paul is very knowledgeable, quite considerate, careful fellow, who is running his business with a lot of thought to make it the best possible experience. It’s working.

We visited four wineries, beginning with Chandon, which he expertly introduced, giving us the history of the estate, a very interesting tour of the factory which included a description of the process of making sparkling wine. We had an excellent tasting of a full glass of one of the six offerings which tended to break the ice and get the eight people on the bus talking to and enjoying each other. This was included in the tour price. Then the group opted for a small taste of the other offerings at the tasting bar for $5 a head. The next stop was Oakridge, where we enjoyed an excellent lunch of duck, salmon or a veal chop, with a glass of wine and espresso following (thankfully). This was also included in the tour price. While lunch was being prepared, we tasted their offerings. Then we were off to Soumah. My wife and I liked all of the offerings there, which were well presented and well narrated. We ended the tour with a visit to Punt Road, which was a stand up tasting, but also offered Apple Cider and Pear Cider.

The sort of sleepy trip back to Melbourne was pleasant enough, with carefully chosen musical accompaniment, marred only by Paul’s singing along, which was quickly and successfully shouted down. All in all, it was a fine day, and one of the best values we have seen. We highly recommend it as a very well run, safe and thoroughly enjoyable excursion.

“a cool day in Yarra Valley on a hot day in Melbourne”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

my brother was in town visiting Melbourne for the Tennis (from the US) and we randomly picked a wine tour for the Yarra Valley based on online reviews. Paul and the WineBus did not disappoint! four wineries, great company and a knowledgable tour guide. it was 36C out, but the air-conditioned bus provided a perfect way to spend a hot day. good times had by all! would definitely book again and again.
