King Kong the six metre tall marionette is visually stunning & the lighting / set designs work well for the most part. All the lead actors have good voices & the marketing team for this production did a fantastic job in advertising - particularly with all the pre show sales. But from there on its downhill, which is frustrating as the ticket prices are high & the production itself could & should be SO much better! The flimsy storyline is BORING along with a number of the (long drawn out) solo songs. None of the characters have charisma nor are they given the chance to develop throughout the story, which alienates the audience. The mish mash of choreographed dance routines interspersed between stagnant scenes are just odd - it's like someone ate bits of musical styles then threw it all up on the stage. The music becomes overpowering throughout, audience applause was stilted & there were a number of times when my party just looked at each other and commented 'wtf is going on up there?!'. Lyrics to songs were difficult to comprehend - not that it probably would've made a difference.
For the money spent on this, they should have nailed it. Sadly, once word of mouth spreads on how bad it is, I think their audience numbers will dwindle. Despite the King Kong figure, it distinctly lacked cohesive direction, which does not make this a world class production.

WOW this was a great experience in visual arts. Lots of technics and amazing lighting. One of the best visual shows Ive seen. Vocals/Dance/Costumes all great and not to mention King Kong himself. Very very clever. Especially loved the scene where he is running carrying the girl in his hand. Loved it!

We took our daughters to see this earlier this month. They were a bit apprehensive at first because they didn't know who King Kong was (they are 9 and 11). They thoroughly enjoyed the show as well as the entire experience of dressing up to go to the theatre. They were even impressed with the toilets!!!

Everything about the performance was great - venue, actors, lighting, music, special effects, set. The only thing that let it down was the story line dragged a little in places. Also, because I hadn't seen King Kong since I was a kid, I didn't remember the story line, so I couldn't follow some parts of the show.

It was an expensive event to take children to, but they did enjoy it, so it was worth it in the end.

Amazing performance and Kong was clearly the highlight of the show - pretty amazing stuff for sure. So very energetic. Kong was so real like I did not really notice the Kings men!!

King Kong – Crap!!!
No story line
Clarity of people’s voices lost
People next to me left after first act, people distracted ( going to toilet, on iPhones).
I was thinking I don’t like it and was relieved when my friend who goes to every musical in town agreed. He even had a sleep.
The worst $75 spent – the shampaign and bag of Swiss products was my highlight!
