A lush beautiful garden very close to the city, with many beautiful trees. A lovely spot for picnics. Weddings are often held here

The Fitzroy Gardens are a far way from most of the major sights of Melbourne's CBD but it is a very pretty and quiet place for an afternoon stroll. Visiting Cook's Cottage is a must do: it is so incredible to stand in the house built by Captain Cook's father that has since been transported here all the way from the English countryside. The Model Tudor Village nearby is not that impressive, there are far better miniature villages elsewhere.

I often come here for a nice and quiet walk as well as for a picnic. There is plenty of space to hang out with your friends or just to be on your own. Best of all, this is a great place to read.

These gardens are a lovely space to wander, relax and enjoy. There is a fabulous playground and also interesting green spaces, ponds and gardens. Easy to access by tram ( numbers 96 or 86) or foot from the city.
