“Fantastic Property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

Brilliant Stay. Quality rooms, nicely furnished with all the facilities required of a Quest property. Will definitely recommend to other friends. John at the front desk was extremely professional and is an asset to the Quest Franchise.

I stayed at this Heritage listed building last Saturday night at a cost of $209. The location is fantastic and is probably the best thing about this place. From the outside to the court yard area, it looks pretty impressive and different to the ordinary style of hotel. However, we were give the keys to a basement level studio. The roof was really low in the entry and bathroom and even at 5ft 4inches I couldnt raise my arm to brush my hair in the bathroom without whacking my hand.

I was disgusted by the state of the shower. It was filthy! Have they never heard of grout cleaner? I was so angry to see that I had paid this money for a room like this when my own home looks way more like a hotel than this! There is no way I would accept my home bathroom shower looking like this. Even in its dirtiest state, my home shower looks a hell of a lot cleaner than this.

There was no window in this room other than looking out onto the public atrium area. I couldn't leave the shutters of this window open as anyone could look down into the room so I had to close myself in. Therefore, the room was hot and stuffy and miniscule.

The bed was like what you would find in a cheap motel in the middle of nowhere. It made NYC hotel rooms look gigantic.

There were no tissues in the room either. The lighting was terrible - so gloomy.

We went down to the cafe Sunday morning within the buidling for an early breakfast and coffee to be told it did not open until 8am! Seriously!

I found this room overpriced and a real disappointment. Parking was away from the hotel and $30 (2pm Saturday until 7.30am Sunday). Despite what their website says, there was no parking discount.

I suggest they get an industrial cleaner onto those showers.

Room Tip: Ask for a window. Ask for the shower to be cleaned and as they are white tiles, they should not have...

Although the rooms were small, they were adequate for our couple plus 1. Kitchen was tiny with no storage and a tiny bar fridge but was also manageable for 3. There was nowhere to eat except for on your lap in the lounge room, but an anticipated upgrade will hopefully solve this problem.
Beds were comfy, staff excellent. 2 coffee shops on premises also had great service (only drank coffee - but it was good in each place.)
5 minute walk from many theatres, and importantly for us 12 minute brisk walk to hospital.

My sister and partner recently stayed at Quest while exploring Melbourne - we had a fabulous time, our 2 bedroom apartment was really spacious and comfortable, and got serviced every day so nice and clean.

The location on Little Bourke St was very handy to all the shops and laneways, and we had amazing breakfasts from the on-site cafe (Deli 1886) which were all yummy and delivered by Corrina, the friendly lady who runs the place. We were well looked after by the reception team, John especially was one of the nicest hotel guys we've ever come across, very personable! We enjoyed using the spa pool and the gym.

One thing to be aware of is you can't have multiple people signing into the room WiFi at a time, we had to take turns.

Overall a great stay in a cool place, the building has an interesting history too which I enjoyed reading about! Thanks Quest, we'll be back. :-)

Room Tip: One further back from the road is probably a good idea, ours was nice and quiet, room 37.

When we arrived we discovered there was a foul odor in the bathroom. We went out and returned later that evening to find the odor was still there and the apartment was cold, the heating did not work and there was no spare blankets to be found it was a very cold and uncomfortable night.
Early Saturday morning we were woken by the cafe banging their chairs on the ground as they set up, which was right outside our window.
On checkout I again expressed my frustration and dissatisfaction with our weekend and was given a quest feedback form and told an mail was sent to the Manager (Totally felt fobbed off)
Our room did Not at all represent the Photos on the Website gallery.
NEVER EVER will I or My family be staying here again.

Our apartment faced Little Bourke Street, ground level so we heard everything and everyone outside, including the 5am garbage truck. The one and only bathroom had a really bad sewerage smell which only got worse over the weekend. The heating did not work and there were no spare blankets. We have stayed at Quest before and therefore expecting a really nice stay in Melbourne but considering that we paid $335 a night we wont be recommending Gordon Place to anyone. Really disappointing. The only redeeming feature was it's location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the property!

Stayed here recently for a 2 night stay for a work conference with colleagues. We stayed in a 2 Bedroom Apartment which was plenty big enough for a short stay, but wouldn't recommended it for a long term stay. Admittedly we had crammed 3 people in the apartment (1 Double & 1 Single plus the Sofa Bed).
The staff were very courteous upon both check-in and check-out and the process was very quick and easy.
A downside to the apartment we stayed in was that we were facing the street and it was quite loud, particularly at night and being over a weekend. The noise from the street is a bit overbearing, so if you're a light sleeper - be warned! Also having people come into the property at night can be loud too - it echoes quite a bit and the noise travels.
Overall had a pleasant stay and the location is quite good and value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the street if possible!
