This hotel was booked for me by my company for a 2 day business trip, and when i arrived i was appalled. It was my first trip to Melbourne and my first impression was that it was disgusting, based on this hotel and its location. It is genuinely the only place in the world where i have ever travelled, where it actually smells. I'm not sure whether its the drains or whether it was the Victoria market behind this hotel but it STUNK.
The hotel has clearly been renovated on the smallest of budgets and is very IKEA, trying to be "modern" but everything about it is cheap. It definitely isn't a Boutique Hotel as it markets itself.
The room was very basic and old and the bathroom wasn't the best. The hotel advertises gym and swim facilities, but both of these are located elsewhere, not actually in the hotel.
The location is the most worrying thing, i didn't feel safe walking around at night. Don't stay here if you can avoid it, there surely has to be better hotels in Melbourne, i however won't be in a hurry to stay in this or any of them.More
