“Right next door to Victoria Markets”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

I only stayed one night but thought it was fine. Very clean room, noise wasn't a problem, good amenities in the room. Friendly reception very very close to Victoria Markets. I quite liked how each floor was a different colour.

This hotel is in a great location close to Victoria Market and lots of fantastic and cheap Thai/Chinese restaurants. It is also really easy to walk into the centre of town and just around the corner from most main car hire firms.

The staff were really helpful and let us check in around 11.00 which was great after a 16 hour flight! The rooms are spacious and modern and overall this is a really great hotel. However, do take your ear plugs as the traffic and tram noise is very loud if you have a room overlooking the Elizabeth street as we did. The noise pretty much lasts 24 hours a day so if you are a light sleeper then insist on a room on a top floor and around the back or side of Victoria market.

Room Tip: If you are a light seeper then ask for a room overlooking Victoria Market and NOT at the front of th...

Recently stayed here for work conference. Upon arrival there was a lovely young man who checked me in but he was the only one working that evening. This was the eve of a major conference with an expected guest list of over 100 staying at the hotel. Reception was lovely but a surely if you were expecting that many guests why only put on one staff. The poor guy was answering phones, checking in guests as well as running all the room service meals to the rooms. I had to on more than one occasion tell waiting guests that someone would be there soon as there was not even a bell or anything. Poor management was again on hand the next morning at breakfast which although was good, besides the terrible coffee (true and in Melbourne a big no no) we waited for nearly an hour with very haphazard service. Again not enough staff. Some people just gave up with poor people ordering room service having it not turn up at all.
The rooms were adequate and had all that was needed and more for the price. The hotel is in an excellent location though so all else can be forgiven. I think it was more mismanagement than anything. The staff were lovely and very forgiving but really. Oh and nor sure about the lurid colour scheme. Take your sunnies.

Very lovely hotel. Amazing location. They let us checked in at 9:30am! The staffs were very friendly, even when I asked for things like phone chargers and directions. The room was nice and neat. I have no complaints whatsoever. I stayed in level 8 (highest). The only thing was that their floors are decorated entirely in one colour each floor. I didn't mind it too much but there're probably people who would. There's a tram right outside but basically you can walk to everywhere. A very great stay for a price that is so little!

Stayed for two nights, in a twin share on level 6. The room was on the small side but everything was set out well so you had room to move around. Beds, floor and bathroom were clean. The staff during the entire visit friendly and extremely helpful. Having 24 hour reception and access to the hotel, made return from how late night out easier.

A few things that could be improved on, our wake up call never came, even though was had booked it upon checking in, so we only just made it to our airport transfer bus. The room the entire time we stayed was either too hot or too cool, no matter what you did with the temperate controls in the room, and the bathroom could really have used a fan, has upon getting out of the shower the room was extremely humid. We hadn't put up the sign on the door asking for our room to be cleaning, yet when we come back to our room from going out to breakfast, one of the cleaners was in there and we had left valuables out thinking that no one would be coming in, the clean then processed to take over 20 minutes cleaning a room that didn't need to be cleaned, making us late from our afternoon plans has we were coming back after breakfast to shower and get ready, which couldn't be done until the cleaner had left.

I don't know if it was just our room but has we were close to the elevators we could hear every time some come to or from them, also the room itself wasn't very sound proof, as we could hear everything that was happening outside and in the rooms either side of us, and I'm most certain that the couple in room to the left of us didn't know that we could hear what was going in their room, and I felt embarrassed for them.

Overall it was a pleasant stay, and my friends and I are planing on staying there again next year.

Stayed one night in August on level 6. Decor of room is a little different but well layed out and clean. Reasonable size that is functional. Staff friendly with whilst only a very limited room service menu the quality and price was good. Room service breakfast available which was good value.
Overall good value for Melbourne.
