Great central location. Short stroll from Southern Cross Station and the Sky Bus from the Airport. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms well appointed, clean, comfortable. Did not use dining facilities as room was self contained.

Great location, a short walk to Southern Cross station, a nice walking distance to Southbank. Tram stop right out front. The building is magnificent, I wondered what event & parties it had hosted over the years. The ceilings were extremely high & the corridors were big, really big which also made me wonder if there was a full time army of cleaners hiding somewhere because it was very well kept despite its size. Our breakfast was delicious & the service was superb. Thank you.

The position and the history of this establishment are well worth noting and the fact that no noise can be heard from the busy streets outside is excellent. But the decor of the hotel is very tired and shabby and disappointing for such a "Grand" building. That the lifts were not working and we had to use the service lift certainly did not improve the initial impression of the hotel and on arriving in our room, one of the bedside globes was not working either---minor problem really, but just not "spot-on".
The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was fine and the check out was a little crazy because everyone seemed to descend at the same moment. Overall I would not stay here again --at least until some renovations have been done---but the potential is there for a really great place to stay because of the location.

Stayed here 1 night in April 2013 we had a loft room which we asked to be changed from because of the stairs, would have been ok if I were 20, so we were changed to a studio apartment with balcony. The room was large and the bed was to die for, the bathroom was ok except for the position of the toilet your legs pretty much touched the wall.Overall we had a nice stay and would stay here again

Room Tip: Studio apartment is the go, loft apartment has to many stairs to the bedroom.

This hotel needs another FACELIFT. The lifts were not working, the tvs were cheap and small, tv in bedroom didnt work, showers were built for midgets and had no pressure, staff at front desk look morbid. There are much more fun places you can stay. This place feels like gods waiting room.

We keep coming back to this Grand Hotel. It has charm and opulence from its origins with Victorian Railways, yet it is fully up to date. From its long and wide hallways, to it high ceilings and huge windows it is Grand.
Always impressed by it.

We stay here all the time when there is a trade fair as its a short 3 minute walk to the Exhibition Centre.
Rooms are spilt level loft and spacious but are starting the show their age so a renovation would be good to see at some stage as its an expensive hotel to stay at.
The food also very expensive but we tend to eat out and when I have ordered room service it takes along time. This might be due to the fact we only stay when they ahve a full house because of the trade fair.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the front of the hotel the back you will hear alot of trains!
