The hotel is as lovely on the inside as it looks from the outside. Despite it's size, it has a real boutique feel to the atmosphere, which isn't spoiled by the gorgeous long sweeping hallways that span the length of the building.
The cliche 'old world charm' is corney, but appropriate. We stayed in a loft suite which was clean and comfy. The appliances and furnishings were a bit dated, but in good repair. Overall the room was lovely.
The dining room was more of the boutique, rather than being a massive cavern, it was a small warm and inviting dining room. The service was friendly and the food was fresh and delicious.
Overall, one of the best places we've stayed in Melbourne and definitely good value.
