I atsayed in a one bedroom apartment. Plenty of room for the kids and I. We all had our own space. .The pool and spa was fantastic, had lots of fun. We trvelled in by train and took 5 minutes to walk there. Staff very helpful and friendly.

I have stayed at the Grand Hotel on many occassions however I don't think that I ever got around to writing a review. The Hotel is actually the old Railway headquarters. The ceilings are very high and the corridoors are huge. One of the best features are the beds ( amazing ) you just drift into them and you never want to get out. I belive they can even sell you a bed if you like it that much.

I prfer the rooms on the Spencer street side of the building. Even though the windows are double glazed there is a train line the other side. The Spencer street side is more entertaining anyway. The rooms are large and very comfortable and there is parking ( at a cost ) for your car so dropping it off at night before heading out is the way to go.

I you are attending an exhibition then it is an easy walk to the MEC, or the Casino is a similar distance and Southbank a little further. I like being away from some of the hussle and bussle of the very inner city hotels, it just seems a bit more relaxed.

Lovely historic old building very well renovated comfortable rooms. Excellent friendly and knowlegeable staff. Very good breakfast. Great position in downtown Melbourne right next to Southern Cross station public transport (train, bus and tram). Only problem was fairly noisy aircon and water pipes in the room we were in. Slept OK though!

We had the best night's sleep ever. The bed was sooo.. comfy.
Great position. Close to Southbank, DFO, public transport and Etihad.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Great library for those so inclined. Simple but well cooked breakfast with prompt service.
Historically a great building and rooms spacious and comfortable.
We did not use the pool (too cold for us) but it was a great area.

Arrived at the hotel early as we were going to the races checkin staff absolutely awesome wonderful held our bags until the room was ready and put champagne in the fridge as requested. We were travelling with friends and met up with them for drinks in our room before going to the football, we requested 4 champagne glasses to be delivered to our room which arrived promptly. After the game we went to our friend room to have more champagne and requested as we walked thru the reception 4 champagne glasses and were told we already had some we explained that they were in our room and we would go and wash them ourselves. This was not done nicely but accusingly. When we arrived in our friends room 4 more glasses were delivered. In the morning we checked out early but wanted to have coffee with friends before picking up our car, the same person was on reception, it all seemed to difficult but in the end we received what we requested. Other staff member noticed the attitude but could not do anything.
It just made our requests hard work.

A great hotel with loads of historic charm. Converted building with space and atmosphere.
This was our second stay and confirmed our decision to come back. Rooms are spacious with kitchen if required (but why would you when you are right there in the centre of the city)
A short walk from the Spencer St station, Stadium and Airport shuttle terminal. Circuit tram and other main routes go past the door.
Restaurant closes early so no late supper if you get back from a show or sports event.

Room Tip: Some Spencer St frontages have balcony
