I normally stay at the Crown Promenade but with rates at $660 per night I looked around for better value and was lucky to find this hotel.
Ideally situated in Little Collins Street the hotel has good facilities and whilst basic was clean and tidy. The room rates were only $ 125 per night for a delux twin (recently refurb) and i have no complaints - room was on the small side without being too small but importantly clean and tidy with all the expected extras -flat TV tea /coffee fridge (no bar) ironong board etc.
The hotel is a bit sprawling in that my room was awalk from the lift through several doors and it was possible if on the high floors you may need two lifts as some only go so high (6th floor).
But overall for the money (bargain by Melbourne standards) this is a little gem.
Perfectly situated for all the city centre, trams and sights good value accomodation.
It has bar / restaurant that looked good but I never used - because of oads of city centre places nearby so i preferred to eat out..
The pool and gym is being refurb bit that will be abck in service in March.
Also several floors appeared to be under refurb but this did not effect me at all.
I would recommend booking the refurb floors and you cannot go wrong.

Room Tip: I was on business but this would be really good choice for holiday travellers looking for good value - It is not a 4 star hotel but is excellent value and perfectly located for most people. I booked delux recently refurb room

This place is just a dusty building site. It was like a maze trying to find our room and we had to negotiate stairs with our heavy suitcases. Whilst the room was renovated and nicely done the whole experience was detracted by the building works. Also didn't like he fact that they charged $1 to my bill to go towards their charity partner. Not a mention at check in nothing. Just sneakily added it to my bill. If I was their charity partner I would think twice about this underhand way to raise money. Was happy to donate and did but the courtesy of being advised would have been good service and allow the customer the choice whether they wanted to pay. Avoid this hotel until its competed its renovation.

Comfortable hotel, good central city position. A bit hard to find room as there are many corridors but once we worked out where to go there was no problem. Breakfast was satisfactory.22/2/2013 . The room was brand new, nice bathroom. Would stay there again. Staff helpful and polite.

What a nightmare! I booked with wotif.com paid a lot for a hotel in complete renovation, New Years eve. Floors closed, washing drying room didnt work, pool closed, no notice or discount.

The room was pretty good, didn't deserve the star rating.

The Victoria shares a back packers next door, boozy party animals constantly in lobby and in lifts!

Stayed: January 2013, traveled solo
