“Every room is different and luxurious”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

We heard that this was the best hotel Boutique style in Australia some years ago so we thought it would be nice to stay there so to be out of the CBD area. What a beautiful place to stay for shopping and going to fantastic restaurants or just to walk up and down Chapel St . The room se rvice was good with a nice menu I would like to go back because it wasnt expensive and so peaceful yet near everything.

Room Tip: Ask for the best room they have ring direct to the hotel

The location of the hotel was excellent close to great shopping and food in South Yarra. Downside of the location was the traffic noise, which could get a but much, especially when trams went past.

The room was huge, could do with a little modernising, maybe, the TV didn't have the best quality picture, but overall the room was nice.

The breakfast in the resteraunt was very nice with fresh produce and juices.

The only negatives about the place were that the bin in the kitchenette hadn't been emptied from the person before us, which was a bit yuck, and they charged our credit card after we checked out fir something we DIDN'T take out of the mini bar, so I wasn't really impressed with that.

I probably wouldn't stay there again, there's other more modern places for around the same price range, but for a weekend out, it was overall a good experience.

When i say "best" i take consideration of the price.

Got a free upgrade from standard suite to spa suite.

Bed: Bed was very big with gigantic pillows and matresses.
Bathroom: Excellent bathroom with a large shower, sink and spa
Television: 42" Plasma TV with limited foxtel
Service: Good fast valet service, friendly staff
Kitchen: Small fridge and sink in room with cutlery and basic needs.
Room Service: Did not try
Gym/Pool: Did not try

What a great trip back to the 80's in a very cool way.

Unlike the adelphi hotel on flinders lane this 80's institution has been well kept and it is as clean and functional as the day it opened.

It's the little things, like the angled mirrors in the bathroom that give it a wonderful 80's feel.

But my gosh, I don't know if all the rooms are like this, but this room is huge!

Great hotel - would highly recommend over the smaller rooms in the Olsen over the road

We needed an alternative to the CBD and were visiting reataurants as part of Melbourne's Food Festival.
The Como is in one of Melbourne's more fashionable inner city suburbs with wonderful shopping and restaurants and a vibrancy when you walk the local streets.
Although it is only a short train trip to the city, there is absolutely no need to go to the city as within 400 - 500 metres, you could occupy yourself for days on end.
The hotel is both luxurious and stylish - large rooms with tasteful fittings.
The swimming pool should satisfy everyone other than anyone who likes an early start to the day - I tried an early start but found the doors locked.

Room Tip: Try the top floor - seems to be larger rooms with better views

This hotel is brilliantly located and only a short tram or train ride to the CBD. The rooms are well appointed with some very modern touches such as coloured strip lighting above the bed to give the room a soft glow.

The bathroom was beautiful though not appropriate for anyone infirm due to the several steps up to the enormous spa bath / shower. Despite the overall sense of luxury there was a bit of stained silicon grout stuff around the base of the bath which detracted from it just a little bit. Not enough to affect my overall sense that this is a lovely hotel. Especially at the wotif price we got - not sure I would pay full price, it would need to be a bigger room for that (though it was perfectly adequately sized).

Service was lovely with the receptionist asking us unprompted on checkout if we needed bags stored or a
cab ordered, and the complimentary choice of newspapers delivered in the morning.

A lovely stay, close to great shops restaurants and bars, and a great atmosphere.

I would most certainly stay there again.

Lovely spacious rooms - tastefully decorated and the individually adjustable airconditioning actually works! ,Comfortable beds, good pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. The location is perfect for shopping and eating out and being a short walk from the train and with trams out the front, it's very easy to get around melbourne. The indoor swimming pool with retractable roof, along with sauna, spa and gym was really well set up. We were in a studio suite which was quite roomy. Our friend was staying in an open plan suite which was very large and had comfortable lounge area and kitchenette with microwave (better value room choice if staying for a few days, as the price is not very much higher)
We booked this as a 'Mystery Room', and as such it was great value. If it were full price, I would say it were over priced.
Parking at the hotel was very expensive. I thought it a bit rude that if you forgot (say) your toothbrush or sanitary item, you had to pay for one from the items on offer in the bathroom. In most good hotels it is my experience that if you need a razor or toothbrush, they are provided on request. Giant spa baths are a nice idea but a huge waste of water. Also, having to pay extra for internet access is irksome
