We recently stayed in a suite for one night. It was a generous size with decor, aiming for a stately British feel, that was well past its used-by-date. From other reviews and travellers' photos I am assuming that some rooms have been refurbished. Ours wasn't.
The suite featured a sitting area, dining area and handy kitchenette with, from memory, a microwave, stove, dishwasher or washing machine and mini-bar.
The marble bathroom was like a shoebox with shower over a high-bath and separate vanity area that made the space feel cramped. Adequate but not luxurious compared to newer hotels.
The highlight was the comfortable bed. We had a great night sleep - it surely rivals other hotel's heavenly beds. The service was first class with very pleasant and more than helpful staff.
It was also good to stay in a hotel that has a very decent iron and ironing board for a change. In most hotels this is an after thought. On a minor note, we were surprised not to receive a paper in the morning.
We would certainly stay here again based on price; however, it's not the most luxurious five star experience.More
