“Lovely hotel, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Stayed here for a week for a conference at the Convention Centre. This hotel has been tastefully refurbished in the original art deco style with great attention to detail, including ceiling roses and scrolls on mirrors, window frames and bedheads. The room overlooked a side lane - very quiet, good size & reasonable sized bathroom. The shower was over a quite deep bath, but a handrail assisted with getting in & out.

Very conveniently located on the corner of Spencer Street and Little Collins Street, across the road from Spencer Street Train Staion & airport bus, 15-20 minutes walk from Southbank & the Convention Centre & 10-15 minute walk from Burke Street Mall.

The staff were very polite & helpful. The doorman went out of his way to offer advice about local eateries and attractions & the staff in the breakfast room were exquisitely polite one morning to a group of overseas guests who were incredibly rude about the breakfast service, despite arriving after the advertised closing time of the dining room. Good choice of hot options for breakfast as well as pastries, breads, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, fruit juices and complimentary newspapers.

Room service was very prompt, as was the replacement of a light globe when notifying the front desk that it wasn't working.

Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Melbourne.

Five nights at the Vibe Savoy Melbourne provided just the casual, quiet and convenient nucleus for our busy schedule. With the Southern Cross Station directly across the road we were able to purchase our Myki cards for the efficient public transport and also obtain excellent local travel advice from the 'Hub' within the station.
Our room was spacious, clean and tastefully furnished and although our window overlooked the sides and roofs of neighbouring buildings we were on the tenth floor and had sufficient distant views of other 'high rises' not to feel hemmed in. Not being on the sides overlooking the busy intersection meant our sleep remained undisturbed.
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance and we very quickly found a favourite for breakfasts. There is a good restaurant in the hotel and fellow travellers recommended it, but we like to eat with the locals when ever possible.
The service is friendly, helpful and efficient. We will be very tempted to return.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north and east would be quieter and the higher you go the better the views.

Developers are reforming the southern end of the CBD near Southern Cross station and dubbing it the New York end.I'm not sure it will ever reach those grand heights however there is plenty to like about where the Vibe Savoy is located . . Its a 10 minute walk to the Mall, 5 minutes to hardware lane 1 minute to the Southern Cross station and access to Etihad and a great walk of app 20 minutes to Crown Casino. There are 3 different supermarkets within 5 minutes also.

The rooms are well appointed and beds huge . I have had breakfast there before but not this time but remember it being tasty with eggs made to order. We got the room for a great price on the Anzac Day weekend .

There is a similar offering nearby ( Mantra on Little Bourke) .

The location of this hotel was excellent for our first stay in Melbourne, providing close proximity for all our trips into the Melbourne CBD and surrounding areas, whether it be an all day into the suburbs or a quick walk down town for an evening meal. It is central for walking, tram, bus, train and ferry transport, so ideal for those not having a vehicle.

With reference to other comments about the age of the building, we enjoyed the ambiance and the decor, finding it much more tasteful than the modern minimalist look. The interior is bright, fresh and relaxed, with no obvious signs of deterioration or ageing.

We had booked over the Internet. Our first night was in a king room, although this room was quite suitable for an overnight stay we felt it was a little small for our stay which was 5 days. After discussing this with front desk they were very helpful in finding us a more suitable room for the following 4 days for an appropriate upgrade fee, which we enjoyed for the remainder of our stay.

The small bar and dining area, were pleasant and friendly. They offered regular happy hour as well as regular lunch specials.

As we were transferring to another hotel following this stay we were delighted to find a small clean laundromat close by with an excellent coffee shop next door - always a bonus for travelling.

Most outstanding for us was the absolute genuine friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff and the cleanliness of the whole hotel.

I must also add the bed was extremely comfortable and the feather/down pillows and bedding was an absolute treat.

We would most certainly return to the Vibe Savoy on Little Collins.

Room Tip: If you are staying for a few days ask for an executive room, we had a corner, it was fab! Our first...

Stayed one night with work in a group. HSK did a good job of getting the rooms ready as we were early check in. Staff on the desk were a little confused and took them some time to sort the paperwork nobody seemed to be in charge but we all got checked in. The room was a bit dated, Chipboard wardrobe and cupboards were looking a bit old and the bathroom showed its age. Good few hours sleep and it was very quiet, next to the trams and SXS i didn't expect such a good sleep. Nothing really jumped out at me and said wow but for a quick stay in the city it was ok.

Really no complaints, we stayed without any hiccups. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the service was above average. They also held our bags all day on our departure date so we could go down to St Kilda before leaving!

- Good value, comfortable with adequate ammenities
- Modest, medium sized room with a great location
- Super close to where to airport shuttle bus drops off

Am most probably going back to stay the next time I go down to Melbourne :)

Seemed to be many people checking in at the time we arrived. Staff were run off their feet but still friendly and efficient. We were allocated a room on the 9th floor overlooking Southern Cross station. No street noise from here and plenty of natural light.

King bed, large LCD TV,well appointed large room with nice bathroom. Everything worked.
Bar at street level is popular during late afternoon. Complimentary (warm to cold) snacks provided.Breakfast was of a good standard with plenty of choice although a bit expensive. The dining room is impressive with a fusion of old and new architecture.
Valet car parking was $30.00
.
Checkout was very busy and involved a bit of a wait, possibly short staffed at the time.
All things considered, I would stay here again. Booked through Qantas website.

Good value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor
