I decided to have a night staying in the city, and booked a random hotel via Wotif. I wasn't sure what to expect when I found out it was Flagstaff Radisson, but my experience was great. From the moment I arrived, the staff were lovely and incredibly attentive. My room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The food at the restaurant downstairs was very nice.

We have stayed at this hotel before and selected to stay here again mainly due to its convienient location, it is very close to the central shopping area and tram connections to outside suburbs however it is still a little outside so is easy to reach by car.
The check in was excellent as usual with helpful and friendly staff. On this occasion we booked through the radisson website and gain a reduced rate as we book only a couple of days before our arrival.
We realise the rate that we paid was significantly less than the usual rate for this room, with this in mind I feel that the room could do with some attention. For the price that we paid the room was more than adequate however if i had paid more i would have been dissapointed. On previous visits we have always been on the side of the hotel facing the gardens which i feel is a much nicer view so if possible ask for this side of the hotel. Our view this time was mainly the sides of building and a building site.
When staying at this hotel we always have to room service and it has always proven to be excellent! They are very efficient and will deal with any special requests that you have without issue. The room was very clean and tidy, the bathroom did feel a little dated and was very different to any of the bathrooms we have had previously in the hotel however i do understand the hotel is currently in the process of some modernisations.
I have recommended this hotel to many friends in the past, however if you are paying the full rate make sure you ask for a room on the garden side!

We normally stay in apartments, but decided on the Radisson on this occasion. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room. The staff made the experience a memorable one. The location is superb - short walk to trams in the city (or walk there in 10 minutes) and only a short stroll to the Queen Victoria Markets. We experienced a problem with the air conditioning on a 41degree C day, and asked for it to be looked at. The hotel maintenance (John) were prompt and friendly, and knew their work. The restaurant HQ's was superb for breakfast, and our waiter Chris really made us welcome. I would highly recommended this hotel for couples and for business trips. We will certaintly look at staying here again if visiting Melbourne.

Room Tip: Ask for a park view room, or a Business Class room.

We stayed one night and although the reception and housekeeping staff were polite and professional the hotel itself is in disrepair, our room was shabby with scuffed/dented worn furniture and an old mouldy bathroom with a particularly nasty smell coming from the toilet (before we arrived!) and lasted the duration of our stay, for over $200 per night this is bad value for money.
We had a 'free' full breakfast included in the price but felt crook after eating it.

Room Tip: High floors over looking Flagstaff Gardens, ask for a room upgrade.

With a few years on the neck, Radisson on Flagstaff gardens is one of these basic business hotels with a kind of "grey" touch to it. I stay here often and enjoy because I basically only wnat a clean room and a good bed. The Gym isn't the best (small and cold in the winter). The staff though is very good and the service has always been very good.

This was our 10 stay here and in our eyes it just gets better & better, the main reason is the staff. From check- in to departure they are always there to help, smiling and happy to assist. One staff member whose name escapes me always does her best to make us feel at home and even after 6 months remembers us, all I know is that she is Dutch I think. The hotel is close to everything you might need and if you don't feel like walking the city circle tram is only 100 mtrs up the road and is free. As others have said they think the breakfast is a bit expensive but there are some great places not far away in Hardware Lne. We generally book in here before looking elsewhere because of the above reasons.

Room Tip: Park view rooms are the pick, but if you are out all day it doesn't make a lot of difference
