“Excellent Accomodation in the heart of Melbourne!!!”
Reviewed April 18, 2012

Perfect for all your needs. Stayed here for 8 nights in April 2012 and was extremely impressed with the level of service and the apartment which i stayed in. Fantastic location, less than five minutes walk to federation square and restaurants just around the corner!!! Also Coles supermarket 5 mins away and Flinders street station also just around the corner. Great base for exploring Melbourne and inexpensive too!! Would definately stay here again, pictures do not do it justice!!

Hi Andrew2012AUS

Thanks for letting us know how much you enjoyed your stay at Punthill Flinders Lane. Considering your length of stay (8 night's) our fully self contained Apartments would have suited you perfectly..
With Coles Supermarket located just around the corner I'm sure you made good use of the cooking facilities available in room.

We appreciate you comments and hope to see you again soon..!

Regards

The rooms were nicely decorated and had everything you need. I loved the tin cat on the windowsill and the way the room was set out. The only problem was the previous occupants had been cooking in the room and the smell was overpowering and when we opened the window, the noise from the street was very loud. Overall the room was great and the location was excellent. I would definitely recommmend it.

Room Tip: Ask for air freshener.

It is not glamorous but it is centrally located, clean, good amenities, friendly and helpful staff. And if you ring the hotel direct you get a good deal and usually you can cancel within 24 hours. The apartments are spacious and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom was huge and full kitchen like home. Didn't really like the rustic concrete interiors but still best value property in the city and I would definitely stay here again. 5 min walk to Rod Laver Arena, MCG, mall for shopping. I had a quiet room not overlooking the street.

Room Tip: not street side.

I loved this place. The two people who run it were extremely friendly and helpful. They helped me find coffee shops I'd like and explained in great detail how to order coffee how I like it in Australia (not as easy as it sounds, but they took care of it!)

The location was phenomenal. I can't stress how perfect this is for everything you'd want to do in the city. The property itself was in great shape and the apartments were very spacious. It had a lot of charm while also being very modern, extremely clean, and having everything we needed. There was a bit of noise from live music outside but it never bothered me.

You could not find a more central location. Right in the heart of the CBD with lots of fantastic coffee shops, restaurants and bars in the vicinity. We had a studio apartment that faced Flinders Lane and the 24 hour noise should not be underestimated. Opposite is an office building and you can look right into these offices and the office workers can look right into your apartment. We found the apartment functional, however very dark. You need constant light and the dark carpet and furniture might be practical as it hides marks and stains, but it gives a depressed feeling and the cheerful little tin cat on the window sill doesn't make it better. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom small with a small shower cubicle. The airconditioning system is the noisiest we have ever encountered. Yes, the floors squeek, but it is an old building and can be tolerated. Housekeeping is slack. During our entire stay we never received any amenities. When we checked in there was not even a little soap, so we had to go to Coles Supermarket around the corner to get some as you do want to freshen up upon arrival. During our 4 nights in the apartment, there was no housekeeping at all on one day, on another day the blanket and pillows were just thrown over the bed. Tables were never wiped, floors never cleaned, bathroom just got a quick wipe over. Staff from Front Desk were very friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable for the location but we would probably prefer the Punthill Manhattan up the road where we stayed once in the past, simply for the better housekeeping and less noise.

I have stayed at Punt Hill Flinders Lane for scores of business trips, a couple of family holidays (with two small girls) and a few times with my husband since 2002 when I moved away from wonderful Melbourne to Brisbane. Whether it is a one night business trip or a five night holiday stay, it is always wonderful. The location, right in the heart of the CBD can't be beaten. The vibe is very chic and Parisienne - the eclectic fashion shops in Flinders Lane are wonderful and it is always fascinating to wander about all the other lanes and experience all the weird and wonderful food places and shops that run off Flinders Lane.

Punt Hill Flinders Lane is very much like a European hotel - but with much bigger, comfortable rooms. The staff are always very helpful and are always great with flexibility with check in times. Business travellers frequently get stressed about a variety of things - mostly to do with technology and taxis not turning up (at least I do!). The people at Punt Hill Flinders Lane have always come up with some kind of very useful suggestion and have always made me feel better. Nothing ever seems to be a problem at Punt Hill - and this is based on literally dozens of stays there. Cleanliness is always excellent. The bathrooms are roomy and clean and everything always works in all the apartments. The place has a slightly off beat feel to it (friendly ornamental metal cats on fake green grass on the window sills) which makes the place friendly and quaint in a quiet, unobtrusive sort of way. I choose to stay here even when I am faced with a long taxi drive out to see clients in outer Melbourne as the comfort, lovely feel and great coffee available all round the place is second to none.

There is a 24 hour Coles just around the corner to stock up on groceries (or just chocolate) if you need to. Even though I am normally a very big fan of the hotel room service Club Sandwich (no room service at Punt Hill as the apartments are self-catering) the lovely feel of Punt Hill Flinders Lane makes the small sacrifice of having a pie from Pie Face (just downstairs) and a great coffee from any of the coffeeshops downstairs for a hasty business trip dinner all the more worthwhile.

If you are travelling as a couple or like to dine alone, there are scores of fabulous choices of where to go within a max 3 minute walk. I really can't imagine why anyone wouldn't love the place - very good value with their prices too. Can't wait to get back there very soon!

Room Tip: Ask for any room not near the lift - all the rest are great and quiet.

Love this apartment /hotel. Close to everything that we needed. Rooms were set up beautifullyand supplied all the kitchen gear you needed. We needed to travel to the country and train station next street made this easy. Food was readily available next door at the restaurants in the lane. Coles just around the corner and every takeaway you could imagine. Only down was the creaky floors and the slow lifts but even these were not enough to put our stay down.

Room Tip: Higher rooms have less road noise.
