This hotel is in a pleasant location on leafy St Kilda Road, south of inner Melbourne.
From the tram stop outside Flinders Street Station take a 3/3a, 6, 16, 64, or 67 tram heading south. Approximate 10-15 minute tram ride. Get off at stop No 25 (Commercial Rd/St Kilda Road. The Parkview hotel is located a short distance from the stop, looking southwards on the right hand side the hotel is easily spotted; a sports oval on one side and the Loreal Building behind.
Our King room looked over the adjacent sports oval and the distant inner city skyline. Large picture window, modern interior decoration, room light and very spacious. (A section of the window can be opened if fresh air is preferred although some road noise is then experienced.)
Careful thought has gone into the fittings and fixtures; the placement of little things which add to the look and room comfort.
The modern bathroom is fitted with a glass partition walk-in shower, huge rain shower head, contemporary shaped hand basin with fitted, open shelf underneath for bath amenities, hairdryer etc. Large fluffy towels and white waffle cotton robes.
The roomy, separate dressing area outside the bathroom cleverly incorporates a counter top backed with another large mirror, fitted robes, luggage storage, in room safe, minibar fridge and coffee and tea amenities counter storage....stylish, functional, uncluttered.
The minibar is locked and can be opened by phoning reception if its use is required. The downside is a lack of refrigeration for personal treats, like yoghurt, etc A stainless steel electric kettle (not cheap plastic thankfully) mugs as well as cups, and a good variety of teas are supplied.
In the bedroom/sitting area - good lighting, flat screen TV neatly fitted into a timber feature, a comfy lounge chair, oval table/desk with one chair. ( A second chair for the desk would be make in-room dining more comfortable). A pillow menu is also available.
We selected this hotel on this visit to Melbourne because of its location close to the Palais Theatre, St Kilda; this hotel's location being more convenient than an inner city hotel on this occasion, and were pleased with our choice.

We recently flew from Brisbane to Melbourne for a four night stay with Parkview. This hotel is lovely, right from the greeting at Reception to the featherdown toppers on the big beds. The room is roomy, and I especially like the dressing area outside the bathroom. Excellent idea for a busy weekend when you are sharing and both getting ready at the same time. We bought vouchers on-line for this hotel which included breakfast and a bottle of wine, each day. A couple of nights before we arrived there was a flood on the 9th floor which knocked out the cables for TV and internet. This did not affect us too much as we were not in Melbourne for business and after busy days were too tired to watch TV. The hotel was very apologetic and sent us a refund for portion of our accommodation paid. This was a very costly exercise for them but was appreciated. Afterall what happened was an accident and accidents do happen. I was pleased to be informed that the person who caused the flood was still employed so shows what sort of management this hotel has, good on you management. The breakfast each morning was superb, everything you could think of was on the menu. The trams are a short walk from the hotel and tram tickets are available at Reception. Anything we asked of the staff was greeted with interest and solutions were found, this was mainly to do with instructions on how to get anywhere and maps were printed out off computers. I thank the Reception staff for doing a great job. It was a lovely weekend at the Parkview and at the end of the day sinking into that feather topped mattress was devine. Thankyou for a lovely weekend Parkview. We will be back.

Room Tip: Loved the rooms facing the city .. parkview.

This hotel is fantastic proximity to the Alfred Hotel and offer special rates for those having treatment at the Alfred. Rooms have been recently refurbished to a high standard. The rain shower is excellent and the pillow top mattress ensure a good night sleep. Only downside was we could hear a lot of corridor noise. Tram stop is out the front and only 10mins to the City. Taxi from hotel to airport is approximately $55. Staff were extremely helpful at the front desk.

I stayed here for one night with a special deal from Travelzoo for $119.
That's exactly what it's worth.
This is not a four star hotel, on par with Days Inn quality.
Location is convenient since it's right on the tram line, but about 10-15 mins from CBD.
Parking is expensive. I think it was $20 or $25.
There are plenty of street parking. It works if you come back to hotel late at night and be flexible enough to get up at 8 am to feed your meter then it's worth it.

We used to stay here regularly years ago but in recent years chose to pay more and stay in the CBD instead. I was impressed with the recent refurbishments in this hotel, although my daughter and I stayed in a twin single room that had two of the smallest beds I have ever slept in. I had forgotten how much noise comes into the room from the road at night and really should of asked for a room with no view for that reason. We had a package that was very good value as it included movies and breakfast in room or buffet breakfast. We chose the room service breakfast which we really regretted. The room service was delivered by a very friendly staff member but that was the only good part. We used to enjoy breakfast in bed here whenever we stayed, in fact it was usually our highlight, however this one was cold and tasteless. What a shame.
I was surprised by the reception staff who did the basics of their job but really were not remotely welcoming or friendly. The staff gave the bare minimum of information at check in and never mentioned what time breakfast was or where the dining area was, let alone check out times or any other relevant information that is generally given when checking into a hotel. As for parking, which was included in our package, I was merely pointed in the direction of the underground carpark with no further instruction and left to fathom it out for myself. I would have overlooked this speedy and unwelcoming reception had the staff been very busy but that was not even the case. The staff are obviously in need of some updated training here as my daughter and her partner had the same check in when staying last month and they missed out on breakfast after not being told where it was and what time it ended. Luckily I spotted the small sign in the lobby to note that daylight savings began the night of our stay because it was too much extra for the staff to mention. This is supposed to be a 4 1/2 star hotel but I certainly did not feel like it.

Room Tip: If road noise bothers you at night, ask for a room without a view.

Had a great 7 days. Service and accomodation was great. Location is good and all types of facilities available within walking distance. Only one complaint - sounds do tend to travel. So if you have noisy kids or poorly disciplined kids you may want to minimise shouting and screaming etc. Otherwise an enjoyable stay.
