“Once again a fantastic stay”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

My second stay at Mercure Treasury Gardens and another happy experience.

Took the car this time, parking for small vehicles is under the motel in a tight but secure area. Cost: $30 for a 24 hours. Parking for larger vehicles is around the corner at a public car park.

Stayed in room 812, close to the elevator but noise levels from there weren't the problem! Room consisted of 1 King bed and a fold out couch. For us (myself, my daughter and my sister) two beds would have been a better option. The King bed was very comfortable (as were the pillows), my sister said the fold out couch was ok.

The bathroom was a good size, huge shower with great pressure, well lit mirror.

The room was classified as a premier room, so there was a balcony, welcome snacks, robe and slippers. The room faced the Treasury Gardens.

We stayed two nights, first night sleep was fantastic, second night we had some noisy people next door. Street noise is minimal.

Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful at all times.

Great location, some may consider this motel too far from the CBD, but that little bit of distance makes for a quieter stay. We walked daily to Melbourne Central without any effort.

I believe this motel is great value and I will continue to stay here when visiting Melbourne.

Very good room, good beds and facilities were adequate - bathoom is tiny but big enough to dry yourself in comfort. Staff very courteous, helpful and service was good. We discovered that the Dining Room and bar were closed Christmas Day evening. However the Afternoon Manager went out of his way to make us feel as ''welcome family members'' with room service. The Mercure was fully booked for the Boxing Day Test so the breakfast cook was obviously streched to the limits and could not keep up with demand. As these city motels mostly cater for business singles, another chair is promptly delivered when requested.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from lifts as there were rooms immediately adjacent to them.

Staying in Australian hotels makes you miss Asia. It's not just the ludicrously high Australian dollar which makes even mid priced hotels like this one seem expensive. It's subtle aspects of the whole hotel experience - ambience, decor, the menu. This hotel rates really well for location and friendly helpful staff. Parking rates are also very fair. The queen size room with garden viewed worked well. Comfortable, clean and modern. Goid in- room rxpresso. Quick, easy ingress and egress. Efficient checkout. The wifi price scheme is not impressive but all in all, this hotel is preferable to its larger perhaps better known and more expensive nearby neighbours.
Decent affordable accommodation

Travelled to Melbourne from Regional Victoria for my sons to attend a Living End concert. The Mecure was a wonderful spot to arrive after a long drive through 40+ degree heat. The staff were efficient and pleasant, and the breakfast arrangement was 'spot on' for voracious teen and pre-teen boys. The setting and location of this motel will ensure future visits from our family.

Stayed here for three nights before Xmas weekend. The hotel's location is good, near Parliament and just off Flinders St on corner with Spring St. We arrived just before midnight (our flight from Perth arrived at 11.25) and reception staff was disgruntled by this. We should have warmed the hotel maybe of our late arrival but it does offer 24 hour check-in. The room we were given was right next to the lift shaft I.e. it was in our room but wasn't unbearably noisy although the lifts could be heard throughout the night. The room was clean and Ikea furnishings but spartan. The bathroom is seriously tiny and there was no way two people could be in there at the same time unless in the shower recess. The mattress was hard and the bed very 'jiggly' and any movement caused a huge ripple effect.
Breakfast was ok with a reasonable selection. This hotel is definitely only 3 star standard and I would only recommend it for short stay budget travellers. I wouldn't stay here again because of the bed, the shower and the lift well.

Wasn't a double bed, simply two single beds pushed together, with a hard bump in the middle, making couple sleeping impossible.

Have a ridiculous mini bar fridge with a glass door, so the light beams in your eyes all night.

Thin walls, so we had the pleasure of listening to some drunk girl laughing hysterically all night until 4am.

Craphole
