The rooms are exactly like the pictures so you can not be disappointed, in comparison with the mercure welcome, located further in town, this hotel is the bees knees! clean and tidy and amazing rooms with space to move and relax. conenctions for your ipods and iphones and play your music on them intertwinned with the alarm clock. Just great great rooms! with clean and perfectly designed bathrooms.
Didn't experience the breakfast but if it was the same standard as the hotel then i'm sure that it was great as well.
Even though check in time is 2pm, that didn't seem to be a problem for any one when we checked in and all but a few rooms were ready for us.
in the 5 days i had been there before checking into treasury, i had seen enough of the city, so the fact that my city view was of a tall office block and the back of a carpark, didn't really bother me, but i suppose it could some.
Would recommend staying here as it is on the outskirts of the main hustle and bustle but a stones throw away from federation square and all the other main points of interest, definately recommend visiting captain cooks cottage in Fitzroy Gardens (opposite) is great to see how tiny the house is.

One of those typical Australian and very often occuring unpleasant experiences is the strict adherance to the hotel checkin times. You get out of a 10 hour flight at 7 in the morning and your hotel receptionist tells you "Sorry Sir, checkin time is 2 o clock". It especially happens in the service apartments, but many hotels have the same policy. Not this Mercure though. A warm smile at 7:15 in the morning and "we actually have some rooms available so I can give you one straight away". Because believe me, walking around in Sydney for 5 hours on a Sunday morning is not how you want to kill your time unless you're a churchgoer, maybe.
Nice, clean rooms, nothing fancy. The only setback is the 27 A$ internet charge which only allows you an hour or so at full speed. Afterwards, extra charges apply depending in the MB's you download, something I haven't tried. I have been ripped of once for 700A$ by Teltra for a few minutes of downloading on my mobile and have decided that no Australian provider will make another dime on me.

Unfortunately, I asked for a room away from the elevator and got a corner room. I could hardly move!
The so called 'City views' were the tops of buildings in the distance and I had a grand view of the laneway and large airconditioning units below!!

The shower access was difficult, not for seniors.

The hotel is good if you have a conference at the Hilton or if you are atttending a sporting event, but the normal full prices make this way too expensive for the quality that you get. A very average hotel. I believe the Treasury Garden views are lovely, but is it really worth the money???

Over priced.

Throw away your ACCOR card, they don't care if you are a loyal customer at all.

Room Tip: Just jump on the tram or the free Circle Tram (brown in colour), tram stops at either end of the str...

I was pleased to hear that the location suited your needs, however disappointed to read that you did not like the room you were allocated. We always try to meet any special requests. The AFL Grand Final weekend was certainly a busy weekend; not only for us but the entire city. We do hope to see you again in the future.

Want a Hotel that is at the Top end of Town with great views onto Melbourne's Gardens, then ask for a Garden view at the Mercure Treasury Gardens.
We loved the deal of a room + entrance to the Napoleon Exhibition. The room was a bit small, but with a King Bed in it, what would you expect. The room on the 6th Floor had everything. Quiet, above the traffic, great view of Parliament House, the Gradens and St Pats cathedral. Watching all the minions on their way to work when Melbourne was just waking up. Such a treat. The Restaurant and staff were great, and one "little girl" on the desk was especially helpful - should have taken her name.

We spent 4 nights in this hotel recently. It's no where near the best hotel or the worst hotel in Melbourne CBD for the tariff being charged. The staff was very helpful and obliging. The rooms are small but clean and colourful and the buffet breakfast was average. Its great location makes up for a lot with a Melbourne Circle Tram stop within close proximity and Collins Street a short walk away. There are no fitness facilities on site which was a major drawback for us as we love to make use of indoor heated pools in the cold weather.

I had to take a business guest to the Semi Final at the MCG. The Mecure was within walking distance, very comfortable, and in a good posititon to travel home via te South Eastern the next morning. Rates were very reasonable too.
