“Nice rooms with no windows”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

It is a nice hotel, good location. It might not be the worst thing in the world that you have absolutely no view, just a concrete wall. Friendly staff. All fine.
Except that I would not expect this class hotel to cash in a credit card payment surcharge!

Dear guest,

Thank you for choosing to stay at Hotel Lindrum and for your feedback. It is good to hear that you enjoyed the hotel and the location. As we are in the central business district of Melbourne it is unavoidable that some of our rooms do not have the most beneficial outlook.

We do however have a number of rooms at the hotel that have lots of natural light and lovely big windows. You may be interested to book if you decide to return in the future.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

Best wishes,

Anne Marie Lennon
General Manager.

Not my first choice normally in Melbourne but this hotel is a good alternative at a competitive price, particularly during busy periods. Nice boutique feel to it , from design of lobby, to the restaurant, to the room, to the staff.

What I liked:
* handy inner city location
* competitive pricing particularly in busy times
* comfortable and interesting design of rooms
* friendly staff, including at checkin

What I didn't like:
* My room looked into the side of a building (I think carpark), so could never open up the blinds and get natural light
* could hear the noise from lobby from my room

We stayed for four nights, and had a lovely, relaxing stay. The staff were fantastic at check-in and always answered any queries that we had. We stayed on the first floor and the room was great. My husbands only complaint was the lack of good lighting in the room (and you didn't get any light when you opened the blinds as there was a huge car park next door that blocked out any light). However this was only a minor inconvenience for us as we were on holiday not trying to work.
Would stay again, and recommend it to friends.

This is a very fine place to stay in Melbourne - very well located, not to big, not too small, but just right. We had a Junior Suite at the back of the Hotel - no view but very quiet, even in the early morning usually the bane of City Hotels. From a reserved but efficient and friendly reception process, to an equally quick and easy departure to the next door, subsidised car park, a truly pleasant experience. The Hotel manages many things with quiet ease - it creeps up on you. The rooms are clean, the bed wonderful, the pillows (even without access to the pillow menu) just right, the room uncluttered and well designed (with power points that you can use without having to scrabble about under the floor). A dated but functional sound system provides ambience and the extensive CD and DVD menu is a great idea - no paying for poorly tuned movies here - pick an old favorite and watch it properly. No gym, but they have an arrangement with the Sofitel next door. Everything just works, from the public rooms to the snooker table. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are very quiet, but no view.

We stayed here for 4 nights and used it as a central location to meet with several relatives and friends living in different areas of Melbourne. The hotel restaurant provides both excellent breakfasts and evening meals; service is also excellent and attentive. The hotel also provides bar meals around the bar and pool table area, also excellent. We really enjoyed the style and facilities of the hotel and were very pleased that we were recommended to the hotel by Trailfinders. The hotel clients are a mixture of discerning business and holiday travellers, so there is always a good buzz around the restaurant and bar areas.
Unfortunately our room didn't have any views from the window (only a brick wall) but the room was comfortable, clean and quiet - away from the noise of the main street in front of the hotel.
Toughly recommended to anyone visiting central Melbourne. There are many many restaurants within easy walking distance and also easy access to the river boats for trips down to Williamstown. The trams pass right by the front door.

Room Tip: If you ask for a room with a view over the street you may have to put up with street noise
