Me & my friends booked a 2 bed-room apartment and stayed here for 8 nights.

There were 5 of us in the apartment, 2 pax in each room & 1 used the sofa-bed in the living room (no extra charges!). Come up to about SGD$60-70 per pax per night which was really affordable.

The location is very convenient; 2 minutes walk to Queen Victoria Market, 5-8 minutes walk to the Dracula-themed restaurant, just below 10 minutes walk to the Melbourne Central shopping centre & about 10-15 minutes walk to melbourne museum, old melbourne goal, lygon street etc.

Main thing I disliked was the bed & pillows, way too soft. I had a backache after 2 nights.

& another problem was that there's only one toilet & one bathroom but there five of us, so we had to take turns in the morning and at night when we were dead beat after sight-seeing the whole day.

Room Tip: The 2 bed-room apartment only had one toilet & one bathroom. That might be a problem!

Dear Pingishere,

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on Tripadvisor.

We are happy to hear that your overall experience at the ibis Melbourne was a pleasant one. I appreciate your feedback about the bathroom. An option for future stays might be to book two standard rooms and have them allocated next to each other, which would then provide you with the use of two bathrooms.

With regards to the soft pillow, if you would not mind informing me of your details I can look to have these pillows replaced.

Thank you once again for your feedback.

Sincerely,

Jayesh Bala

We have stayed here before and booked again as other hotels were expensive (as it was Racing week in Melbourne). The arrival was average - no "Welcome to the hotel" or "How was your flight?" - just a robotic check-in and no confirmation of room requests. I have a gold Accor card and look forward to one time having it acknowledged at ibis!

We stayed in a one bedroom room with a separate bedroom and sitting area. The room is nicely furnished and has a small kitchen with cutlery, toaster, kettle, fridge and microwave, but no hot plates. Each room as a TV with digital channels. The bathroom was large with a bath/shower, nice toiletries and big towels.

Negative was lack of natural light - we had a wall right next to the 2 windows.

We left our bags there on the final day and they were locked in a conference room - however, no tags were put on and when we came back to collect our bags, we could have taken anyone else's and the hotel would not know!

Overall a good stay and great location near public transport (trams and trains), taxis, shops and food plus there is an ALDI supermarket nearby. Staff could be better...

Room Tip: Ask for natural light!

Thank you for pointing out some key features of ibis Melbourne that I know other travellers will find useful.

I would like to apologise for the poor welcome you received on check in. I have addressed your feedback with my team. We are working on coming up with solution regarding luggage storage. Currently we do have paid lockable storage, however when this become full we do utilise our conference rooms.

I am happy to discuss your concerns further, please feel free to contact me on 03 9666 0000 or email Jayesh.Bala@accor.com

Stones throw away from Victoria Markets, restaurants and pubs. Weather was mostly good and as it was the Melbourne cup weekend there were lots of people dressed up waiting to be picked up. I had 3 meals at the Ibis iBistro and was disappointed - ordered medium rare and got very well done! Plenty of other places around to eat at that have a more interesting menu and you get what you order.

Dear SueandJeff,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the ibis Melbourne. We certainly have had a busy Spring Racing Carnival, it is always great to see our guests taking part in “the race that stops the nation”.

I was disappointed to read that you did not enjoy your experience in iBistro. I would welcome the opportunity to apologise and address your concerns. Could you please call me at the hotel on 03 9666 0000 or email Jayesh.Bala@accor.com.

We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

Stayed 2 nights for a business trip, so can't complain about the price. Good location, very clean and staff attentive. the room is a little small, however the bathroom is a good size as is the shower. Bar had decent prices and the staff were helpful.

Breakfast was a decent spread.

Only problem was the air-con wouldn't cool the room.

I would stay here again for a trip to Perth, providing the price was right.

The hotel is just next to the Queen Victoria Market and within minutes you are downtown Melbourne with all shops and restaurants.
The rooms are equipped with the necessary things and are clean. You can work from the hotel with a quite fast Internet connection. I would recommend the hotel also for sightseeing in Melbourne as you are next to downtown. The next tram and bus stations are also just a minute away.
The hotel has no gym or pool, but if you need some exercise you better do it outside in the park or at the beach.
