Stayed one night in Melbourne when returning from overseas. Arrived very early in the morning, well before normal check-in time of 2pm but the staff had a room for me within 5 minutes which was totally unexpected but I appreciated very much. I also appreciated the complimentary upgrade. I have stayed at Ibis in Therry St on many occasions for it's excellent location, cleanliness, value for money and very friendly and helpful staff and I'm sure I'll stay there on many more trips to Melbourne in the future.

My girlfriend and I stayed four nights (Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun) earlier this month as we had a weekend festival to attend with friends at various locations around Melbourne.

The average cost per night worked out to be around $100 per night, which we thought was great value for a CBD hotel but it also had us a little worried with what to expect upon arrival. We didn't have to worry though as when we arrived it was easy to tell the hotel was quite modern. The lady on reception was very nice, and the rooms were much better than expected.

We ate at the restaurant once and the meal was pretty good (they have a $15 special every night, we got the burger one on this occasion).

The location is only a couple of blocks from Melbourne Central station which made getting around the city very easy. This place would be perfect if you wanted to incorporate Queen Vic market into your stay, as it is literally 200 metres down the road.

We have definitely found our new "go to" hotel in Melbourne.

Dear Kaneq,

Thank you for taking the time to post your positive feedback on Tripadvisor.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and you enjoyed our central location. I agree our new $15 daily menu is great and has proved to be very popular with many of our guests.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Ibis Melbourne in the near future.

Stayed in this hotel for 5 days in Sep 2012.

- Location -
Hotel is just a 3 mins walk to Queens Victoria Market and around 8-10 mins walk to the Central Train Station or to the Tram stop for the Free City Tram (No 35).

- Food -
There are a number of Asia food store in the area that opens till 9pm+. There's a couple of Convenience Staff within 5 mins walk from the Hotel. There's also a 24hrs McDonald round the corner near Queen Victoria Market.

- Hotel Staff -
Friendly and helpful. Hotel Front desk manned 24hrs

- Room -
Clean Bed. LCD TV. Clean towers. My wife loves the powerful hair dryer.

- Parking -
You will have to turn into a very small and tight alley to enter the hotel's car park. Had problem exiting from the hotel car park as there were a car parked illegally in the one way lane. Had to reverse my car up a steep slope and ended up scratching my side mirror against the wall. Dangerous place to park in...

Dear Kev81T,

We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Ibis Melbourne. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback.

I am pleased you enjoyed our central location and were able to visit the Queen Victoria Markets. Please accept my sincere apologies for the issue you had exiting our car park. It is shame that another vehicle blocked your exit, so you were not able to exit through the main entrance.

We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future.

Nicely renovated economical hotel in a great location that is within easy walking distance to many neighbourhoods. Situated close to various transit modes, restaurants and the Queen Victoria market is almost next door. The elevator and room is card access secured as well as the entry lobby after hours. Your room key is required to be inserted in order to trigger power while in the room. You get face, towel mat and bath towels only so no hand towel. There is even a 4 minute timer in the good sized shower for those conscious of how much water to use. Our standard queen bed was comfortable but would slide sideways or away from the wall if you did a large movement on the bed. Forgot to check if there was a wheel lock or not. It was nice to have access to an empty mini fridge and digital safe in the room. Aldi grocery store is close by.

No internet service in the room although there are two free computers to use where you have to login in each time, max 15 minutes each session, on the lobby level. Pleasant surprise that they provided a free printer to use in case you needed to print anything such as a boarding pass.

Reception staff were courteous and helpful with directions. Definitely would recommend if you wanted to stay in this area. They have daily meals specials and free appetizers at your designated happy hour at their restaurant.

Stayed there for 4 nights, just got home to California...Hotel was smartly located close to all free tourist transportation and "victoria market"...
Paul and the staff from the I-bistro/bar made this property really worth the already competitive hotel price! They were all very friendly, helpful and genuinely cared if we were enjoying our stay in their hotel and their city!
Would HIGHLY recommend staying here to friends and family!
