Located in a great central CBD location in Flinders lane, close to transport, entertainment and restaurants. If hitting the entertainment and restaurant scene was not your go, the great apartment with separate sitting room, well equipped kitchen and dining room, bedroom and ensuite provided plenty of space to just relax and chill.

Room Tip: If living in Melbourne the Hotel is located virtually just across the road from the Flinders Street...

We are APVC members and have stayed here in previous years. SO happy with the refurb!! Pictures on the site are accurate, but still don't show how really gorgeous it is. I do agree that the one little disappointment is the quality of the bed. Comfortable enough, and probably not much of an issue after the first night. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. We made use of having a spacious 1 bedroom by inviting friends up and getting in pizzas from 11" Pizza on Equitable Place. Great pizzas here and only minutes from the Grand Mercure. Picked up cupcakes from the Little Cupcake shop on the corner and wine from the shop only steps away. And if you're in Melbourne on a Monday and think there's not much to do, check out the Comedy@Spleen. Great entertainment and a bit of blast from the past in this small little bar. So convenient, as so many others have said!!

Tucked away in Flinders Lane, you are a stones throw from Flinders Station, trams and all the shopping that Melbourne has to offer. This quiet haven has been refurbished to very chic and is more comfortable than ever. We had a one bedroom apartment, which is a wonderful alternative to a small hotel room, the rooms were spacious, the bathroom huge and the kitchenette allows some self catering, and the furnishings very comfortable. Valet parking is also available at a reasonable price. Why would you stay anywhere else, particularly when the staff are so friendly?

Quiet place to stay even though its right in the heart of the city, within 3-5 min walking distance of public transport, heaps of eating places surround you and a handy supermarket around the corner (Coles). Friendly, helpful staff, a gym immediately next door for minimal fee, no hotel parking but a large public carpark next door. The apartment was spacious enough for us as a couple, gorgeous decor, spotlessly clean. Laundry facilities available on-site for coin payment. Have already recommended to family and friends as would stay there again.

We spent a weekend at this hotel and I was most impressed. We had also stayed here several years ago but the refurbished rooms in this old heritage building are a great improvement.

Check in at Reception was prompt and we were able to check into our room a few hours early. The lady at the front desk was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for her. Looby is small but has kept the old charm from the era.

We had a 1 bedroom apartment which was both roomy and modern. This apartment could sleep 2 Adults and 2 Children. There were 2 flat screen TVs,pay television,dishwasher,2 burner stove, microwave to name a few of the features. Kitchen was fully equiped but really no need to cook as eateries are close by and very cheap. We purchased mains in a local Thai Cafe for about $10. Several food courts nearby also so you are spoilt for food choices at reasonable prices. Many fine dining options nearby also.

The location is in Flinders Lane between Queen St and Elizabeth St. Its only a very short walk away from the Flinders St Station. Being in the lane made the location quiet but very convenient. If coming from the airport the airport shutle will drop you off at the hotel.

I would highly recommend staying at this hotel but if you are looking for a place with recreation features such as pools etc this wont be the place for you.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Sebel Melbourne Flinders Lane was completely refurbished in September 2011, when it celebrated its 90th anniversary. The refurbishment design philosophy drew inspiration from the early "fashion house" days with a view of creating an expression of sophisticated elegance, through an individual design concept that would remain unique to The Sebel Melbourne Flinders Lane. The result has turned this "all suite" apartment building into a market leading boutique hotel. Presented is a contemporary range of sophisticated one bedroom suites that infuse modern design philosophies with the architectural and historical heritage of the building. Archival Melbourne scenes are displayed in the black and white artwork that adorn the corridors, evolving into a celebration of Melbourne's modern icons throughout the suites. With the retention of the original detailed cornice and architraves, blended with contemporary designer furniture and fittings and modern state of the art appliances, the change is exceptional. The sophisticated colour palette is the key design element, from charcoal European bathroom tiles, contrasted by the white, chrome and glass designer fixtures to the use of dark veneers, stainless steel, leather and stone throughout the design.New Guest Features include The Courtyard which is a European inspired inner city escape that provides guests with an intimate courtyard garden to share a drink with friends or to simply relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. While the days of fashion are well in the past at 321 Flinders Lane, those looking for a fashion experience will not be disappointed with The Sebel Melbourne's Flinders Lane location. Ideally located between Elizabeth and Queen Street, it is in close proximity to Melbourne's shopping, and entertainment district with the added benefit of having Melbourne's famous cafe culture and the iconic Flinders Street Station right around the corner. ... more   less
