I have always stayed here when I come to Melbourne because of the fantastic location to the Mall, Chinatown. This time we came to see Jersey Boys so we were only a 10 min walk to the theatre. This stay would have been my 5th time and the room we were allocated had an upgraded bathroom so I was so pleased not to be staying in a room with an old mouldy bathroom like on our previous stays. The shower was awesome, heaps of water pressure so I was very reluctant to get out of it. The rooms are small (we were in a twin) but were clean and tidy. The kettle cord however doesnt reach the powerpoint from the desk unless you put in on the floor or use the bathroom plug (which we did). Bed was comfortable but pillows hard. Checkin and checkout was quick and easy so no complaints there. Only annoyance was the noisy people who came back at 4am to their rooms and proceeded to yell and carry on when they went past and wake everyone up, not the hotels fault just inconsiderate people. Would definately stay again.

Room Tip: some floors have upgraded bathrooms, we were on the 7th floor. We overlooked the new construction s...

The staff were excellent and very helpful.
The room itself was looking a little tired but was reasonable for its price.
The restaurant and bar was very good with quality of the breakfast excellent.
Location being in the center of Melbourne made it easy to get around.

Great location,
very noisy from other rooms and bathrooms. Water running through the pipes makes a lot of noise.Bathrooms are very poor standard.
No room service at all for food. Staff are very friendly and restaurant buffet breakfast was excellent.

Our recent two night stay at the Mercure Welcome Hotel in Melbourne was a very pleasant experience from the desk staff when booking in to the young man on the consiege desk who was very helpful with both directions to the flower show and information about public transport making it very easy to find our way.
The room was was very clean and comfortable we would certainly stay again.

We had a great night sleep in the heart of Melbourne - for just $110. The Mercure is a basic hotel but is surprisingly well equipped. Our room was small but came with an iron and ironing board, tea and coffee - and biscuits!

The air-conditioning was pretty noisy but this probably drowned out any external noises so we didn't mind. We have stayed in this hotel before in a room that was over looking Swanston Street - which was very noisy indeed. This time we were in a different part of the hotel so heard nothing.

The room was reasonably clean (not perfect) and the bed was comfortable - although the pillows were hard.

The one downside of this hotel is the inattentiveness of reception. There was always a queue when I went past, and staff had a tendency to be "busy" on computers or the phone in the reception area, ignoring customers. This is a minor complaint however.

Overall, excellent value for a stopoff or a 1-2 night stay.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking Swanston Street.
