I returned to this city central hotel which at the moment due to nearby construction work can cause some drop off/pick up problems. I stayed in a two room suite at a very very good price. The hotel while a little dated does everything pretty well with the exception of the room service meals which were average at best and the pretty ordinary breakfast buffet. There is an abundance of cafes and restaurants close by if you wish to eat out.

Stayed for the weekend, and enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is in a fabulous location, walking distance to everywhere I needed to go. Close to Chinatown, great shops etc. had a great sleep the first night, however the second night there were noisy people having a get together next door to my room, people coming and going, loud voices and slamming doors from 1am until too late to get back to sleep. Room was large and nicely furnished, but the decor in the foyer area outside the room was very old style, horrible browny/beige colour walls and carpet. Bathroom was reasonable although the bathtub had seen better days. Great chocolate shop in the ground floor foyer. I could hear street noise, even on the 10 th floor, but it wasn't too bad. Would I stay again? Probably a mid week stay, and therefore hopefully less noise. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are so many eating places nearby, I only had one meal at the hotel, which was room service dinner. The food was delivered promptly and was quite tasty, and great value for the cost.

Dear Ruth,

It's great to receive feedbacks from a SEnior Contributor. Our location is the perfect base for a Melbourne weekend getaway. In regards to the noise disturbance from other guests, I would certainly encourage you to notify reception immediately should this occur on future stays. We do ensure that we protect the privacy and safety of other guests and never disclose who has reported the situation. We hope to see you again very soon.

Stayed just couple night. The greatest thing about the Mercure is its location- Swanson st.
Unfortunately rooms are small. I can say anything about food. We prefer to eat outside. Reception- nice service. Friendly staff.

Pros:
Train station right across the hotel with 7-11 close-by.
Chinatown within 1min.

Cons:
Room was big but dated.
Could hear noise from the street.
Poor spread for breakfast.
Lack of clear signs directing to which hotel as the building composes of two hotels under the same group.
