“Great hotel, convenient location, friendly staff”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Stayed here for a weekend in Melbourne as we were looking for a hotel close to Southern Cross Station for the airbus (it's 5 minutes walk) and close to Rod Laver Arena for a concert (tram straight down Flinders St).

Reception staff were helpful and efficient despite our early-morning check-in and stored our bags until the room was ready (ahead of normal check-in time). The hike to the room was a long one, but the other end of the hotel may be noisy with tram and train lines, so worth it.

We stayed in a loft room with a sparkling bathroom and very comfortable bed upstairs, and lounge and kitchenette downstairs. We didn't use the later, although the decor downstairs was a bit tired and the TV needs upgrading to keep up with the expectations of travellers today.

Overall very happy. Not sure it's worth full price, but if you get a last minute bargain like we did, definitely give them a try. I would most certainly stay there again.

The carpet was a bit old, maybe that's why it seems quite dirty. The concierge was very helpful to help booking a tour. Can't get late check-out as well. There are 3 doors to enter this hotel and 1 of it cannot be reach using taxi/car as the road only for tram so if you take taxi, make sure the driver know where to enter his car or else you need to walk a bit.

Location was great, room was clean, but decor was dingy and depressing, and there was woefully inadequate storage space - just one small wardrobe for a room with two double beds; no drawers, no shelves. Toiletries were basic, tea/coffee uninspiring and limited. Overall we didn't think it was good value for money.

We booked this hotel through Accor as we are members. I'm glad we didn't pay more for our accommodation as the hotel is not nice at all. The rooms are shoe size box! The corridors are narrow and the noise travels. I'm sure you can find much nicer hotels in town. The restaurant for breakfast was below average. Cold food, long queues and understaffed & it wasn't even peak time!!

We stayed in a double room, two double beds, which was perfect for our weekend of shopping and being away from our little kids. Room was quite big enough for our needs, clean and we didn't hear the trams at all at night. Fantastic location for easy access to everything in the city. The hotel team were very helpful and available, and it was busy as the tennis finals were on Loved our whole weekend

Stayed for one night on business.
Staff could have smiled at reception.
Room was 1980's decor and very drab and bathroom need a facelift.
Road noise was constant.
Breakfast average.
Overall very disappointed for the price I paid.

Room Tip: Higher floors will be further away from road noise
