We stayed for four nights recently and were very happy with the location having had our accommodation cancelled at short notice in Smith St, we ended up having a better time at this more central location as a result. We walked everywhere only needing a Myki card to get out to Camberwell for the retro market on Sunday. The staff were excellent, knowledgeable and very friendly, you never got the impression that anything was a bother to them. The only niggle was that the fit-out of the hotel is looking a bit tired, it looks a little like it hasn't been updated since it was built (1980's?). Apart from that I would recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Melbourne, I think we will be back!

Room Tip: Our room was on the lane way side of the hotel and was particularly noisy on Friday and Saturday nig...

Stayed here for 7 nights in September. The location is great - situated in China town and close to many places of interest.
The room that we stayed in had everything that you could need but I found that there were two things that let the room down. The bathroom was very dated (although having a bath and loads of bench space was handy). But the worst thing for us was the noise. Our room faced on to little bourke st and it was extremely noisy in the morning - there was not one morning that we were able to sleep past 5 am due to trucks and rubbish pick up. When staying for 7 nights this gets very tiresome!!
I would definitely stay here again but only if I could have a room in a different part of the hotel with less noise.

Dear Tania 340,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review.

You’re certainly right the Crossley Hotel is in a great location.

I appreciate your comments and feedback in regards to the bathrooms, we will take this on board as we are currently undergoing refurbishments to the hotel.

Apologies about the rubbish collection, we are in discussion with the local council to try and rectify this issue. I hope this did not cause too much disturbed sleep through out your stay. On your next visit please request a quiet room and we would be more than happy to try and allocate you in a different part of the hotel for your stay.

Thank you again for taking the time to write a review.

Kind Regards,

I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Crossley Hotel. I expected less for the price. There was everything you need in the room and finding it had a kitchenette was a bonus. What really let the hotel down was the quality of breakfast. The coffee was undrinkable and after trying a small muffin, we gave up and had a meal elsewhere.. Whilst I would stay there again, I would not be paying for their breakfast. On the upside, we were given a voucher upon check in for the tapas bar next door. The voucher entitled us to buy one drink, get one free. Very handy for a nightcap before retiring.

Just stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in Sep. Reasonably priced for a centrally located hotel with a room that is suitable for 3 persons. There are one queen and one single bed.

Location is at Chinatown. Plenty of dining options nearby, esp oriental food. A short walk will get you to the main shopping area at Bourke street (Block arcade, Melbourne GPO, Melbourne Central, David Jones, Myers etc). The hotel is also very near to the train station (Parliament station) and tram station. This tram station also has the free city tram service (no 35) that brings you around the border of the CBD. But do note that this free tourist city tram travels at snail speed. A time consuming way of travelling unless you plan to idle your day away just "city or people watching" on the tram.

The room itself is just plain sufficient, very basic 3-3.5 stars interior. The bathroom is quite dated and needs a renovation. But it is sufficient enough for a night rest after being out for the whole day. Free wifi (the connection was good enough) is a bonus. It was not noisy as commented by other reviewers. The steps leading up to the the front door can be strenuous if you have very heavy luggage. Thanks Eve for helping me to carry my very heavy hard case luggage down on the check out day.

I would like to compliment the front desk staff and in particular, Philip, Eve and Karon. Philip was always attentive and friendly. He helped us booked tours and checked with us if we had enjoyed the tour. Eve and Karon were equally helpful and patient whenever I had a question on directions or tours. Although this is not a 5stars hotel, but kudos to the Crossley's hotel staff for their good customer service.

My husband and I stayed at the Crossley for five nights at the very end of August, beginning of September. First fabulous thing was that I found a very good rate online, called the hotel direct and they matched it. Thank you very much! The room was spic and span, and even though I know people have been complaining about the bathrooms on here, I thought ours was fab What I appreciated was the amount of shelf space to put my makeup, toiletries and what have you on. Full size bath tub, HOT water and lots of towels made for a very nice stay. If you do renovate guys, keep the tubs and the shelf space! :) Staff were fab, friendly and helpful, beds were comfy and you could not ask for a better location. Right on Chinatown, middle of everything, you an walk everywhere, eat fab food and just generally have a great time. Right across the street from China Bar as well (if that's your thing :) ) We had a ball, and would recommend the Crossley to anyone wanting a great, well located, funky, friendly place to stay! We will return!

I stayed here for 4 nights, I could not fault it. Great location, friendly staff, very clean and modern, and very reasonably priced for such a central hotel. The bar does good early bird drink deals, the restaraunt looked nice but we did not eat there as we wanted to explore the city.
