Owner description: The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is Australia's largest, oldest and most popular sporting venue. The MCG has hosted plenty of international cricket, including the first-ever Test and the 1992 World Cup final, countless VFL/AFL Grand Finals, the 1956 Olympic Games and 2006 Commonwealth Games. It also hosted the final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Other sporting spectacles include FIFA World Cup soccer qualifiers, rugby league home and away matches and State of Origin and international rugby union clashes. Apart from its sporting events, the MCG has also witnessed many blockbuster music concerts, and even Pope John Paul II held a mass there when he visited Melbourne in 1986. The MCG has a total capacity of 100,024 people, comprising 95,024 seats and 5000 standing room spaces. The stadium also houses the National Sports Museum, which includes some of the most priceless pieces of memorabilia in Australian sporting history.

“Carlton v Essendon”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

The volunteers assisted us and allowed us to find our seat easily. The catering had good variety and was not excessively expensive for a sporting event.
The overall experience of attending an AFL match with more than 70,000 people was fantastic

“Very interesting!”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

For someone not interested in either Cricket or AFL, the tour of the MCG was amazing. Very informative and eye opening! I had no idea there were so many aspects to the grounds. Ie. History on site and member restaurants and viewing boxes etc. It was well worth the tour!

“MCG - you gotta be there!”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

Easy to get there - trams and trains. Great venue for AFL - even better when your team wins (mine did).

“As easy as 1,2,3!”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

There was nothing I disliked about the MCG. It was easy to get to, easy to move around, easy to get food and drinks, easy to find my seat and easy to get out and back to the city and that's with 70,000 other people. It was my first time at the G for my first AFL match and it was spectacular and an experience I will always keep with me! The only think I wish is that I had done the tour as well.

“Dont Miss”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

Any trip to Melbourne without seeing an AFL game at the MCG is not complete. The sheer size of the stadium is a sight to behold, its one of the biggest in the world. Once inside you will be in awe of the place, it amazes me how such a thing was built. Not only is the MCG the great modern stadium, it is a place rich in history and is home to the sporting museum and AFL hall of fame!

Dont miss it!
