Nothing beats a day at Melbourne Zoo!

Arrive early to avoid the queues and you'll get more time to see everything. Large walking paths mean there is room for everyone. The zoo has undergone some massive redesign over the last few years, having updated the enclosures to mimic each animals natural environment. There is still some work to be done but the zoo is moving along and out of the era of concrete enclosures. The seals exhibition is amazing, offering excellent views both above and below ground - and the seal show is well worth watching. Wander along the Trail of the Elephants and get a feel for life in Asia alongside these beautiful creatures.

There is no shortage of food outlets, offering everything from hotdogs to sandwiches to gourmet cuisine. The prices can be a little high, but remember that the money is going back into the zoo to care for the animals. If you choose to bring your own lunch you will find plenty of picnic areas to relax and enjoy your meal.

A trip to the Zoo Shop on the way out is a must - stocking kids toys and games, books, clothing and local foods.

You wont be disappointed with a day at the zoo!

I thoroughly recommend a visit to the zoo. It is easy to walk around, the staff are very helpful, and it was good to see the animals. Although when I was there, there were a number of school groups this did not interfere with my enjoyment of the zoo as the tracks are wide and with a lot of bush, noise is muted. It is a great place for families.

I found the zoo wonderful for our family with young children.Plenty of space and not too hilly and great spots for a picnic.Exhibits and enclosures animal friendly and easy for public to view animals. The only complaint would be the food outlets were a little bit tired looking and food variety lacking. The day was a bit chilly so that could explain why alot of icecream vendors shut as well.

Melbourne zoo is soo much nicer then sydney. The whole set out is perfect and easily accessible. Lots of animals to see and great place o just enjoy. Unlike sydney zoo which is placed on hill after hill, melbourne zoo is a pleasure to walk around and i didnt have to carry my kids as they just loved it.Will visit again.

This was a little small compared to other zoos I have been to, however the set-out and location were awesome. Easy to get to on the train from Flinder's Station. Possibly a little pricey for adults, however children can get in free during the weekends.
