“Good, bit pricey for sure”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Overall worth visiting, however, right at the minute many of the exhibits are closed for refurbishment, It would make sense to then reduce the admission fee. The oceanarium and penguins are fantastic. The redo of the premises is timely.

“Poor value due to renovations”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

Unfortunately when we visited Melbourne Aquarium, they were in the middle of their $8-million refurbishment and rebranding so there was a lot of work being done and it seemed like half of the aquarium was closed.

Having said that, the penguin exhibit was great, and the keepers and aquarium staff were knowledgable and able to answer any questions. The sea horse area was very well done as well.

I'm sure that once the renovations are completed (in August?) the experience will be completely different. Until then, be wary.

“Expensive with little value”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

Found that some of the attractions were not open on the day we visited which made the price of entry expensive for the limited displays.

“Too expensive. Not good value for money.”
Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

We live in the outer suburbs of Melbourne and had been told by friends that this was a good place to visit.
Our timing was bad. There were renovations being done at the time and quite a bit was closed.
We were given free tickets to come back another time which expire in a couple of months. We were only told of the renovations after we had already paid.
However, the staff member noted that everything may still not be completed by this time when I asked. We probably won't use these tickets as the cost of city parking and road tolls to get in
here can cost a bit.
I felt sorry for those visiting from overseas who wouldn't have the opportunity to go back. Ticket prices should have been reduced during this period- not free tickets offered.
The attractions we did see were good. The penguins were fantastic and were our favorite.
The facilities are clean and the animals/fish here seem to be very well cared for.
