The accommodation offered at this hotel was very expensive for what it is. The foyer looked clean, but once you use the stairs, the state of unclenliness is apparent (dust that had to be months old everywhere). The spa pool has rust brown stains and looked uninviting. The rooms were tired and the carpets looked like they needed a good clean. There is no lift and one of our family was an older grandparent and dragging her luggage up two flights of stairs was not much fun either - besides that it was not easy for her to climb the uneven stairs. There was no offer of help with the luggage either.
Positives: the towels and sheets were clean (but the blankets were not).
Much better value - better position and better facilities - was readily available (same price) on Wotif on the day - so some of us moved. However, beware these guys will not give you a refund unless you cancel 48hrs before. How could we know it was unsuitable 48 hrs before? I suggest you look elsewhere.

OK, so where do i begin... we went down to melb for a girls weekend away we didnt realise that the tennis was on the same weekend so it was very hard to find accomodation, we finally found some here at $250 a night in a one bedroom room, which wasnt even worth $100 a night. From the minute we turned up from the airport it was horrible from the outside it looks like a run down dirty set of government owned homes. the staff were rude and they were playing with a cat in the main foyer and didnt wear professional uniforms or anything. the front door lock to the so called "hotel" was stuck together using sticky tape not very safe and secure. we had to drag our 4 heavy suitcases up lots and lots of set of stairs and the stairs look like those that you walk though at a shopping centre car park. when we asked if someone could help us the response was no sorry our housekeeper has finished for the day and it was 2pm which is check in time (ps there are no lifts or wheelchair access). the room was very old, small and dated but at least the bed sheets were clean, the bathroom could of done with a decent clean as there was still hair in it from the people who stayed before us. the pool is a joke it was very very dirty and the size of a bath tub. i would not recommend it to anyone the location is crap and put it this way 90% of the cab drivers that took us around during our trip didnt know where it was (so its not popular at all and it doesnt suprise me at all) for $250 a night we expected something half decent, we arnt that particular but it was nothing like it looked on the website. i now know why they dont have a picture of their entrance on the website. im juts glad we only used the room to sleep in as we shoped, partied and enjoyed good food the whole time we were there.

The reception is very friendly and help us to carry the lugguge. We forgot require baby cot while booking. The reception was very helpful and put the cot in room. we will stay this motel again.

looked great on the internet and was terrible. No parking avaivable and what was would be ok if you want your car marked. Had to park on the road. Room right next to stair well and people running up and down all night. Not worth the money at all

Frankly, when my friends show me the photos of this hotel/motel/service apartment, as what they call, I am pretty excited to live there, it seems nice and clean.

However, when we arrived, we waited for almost half an hour in the lobby as the staff is not there. We have to climb the staircase with the heavy luggage (obviously the staff is too busy to help) and it does not look like a hotel. It's pretty run down as well.

the location is not really that close as people mention, as you have to walk blocks before you get there by tram. Easy to get lost when it's dark at night. Pubs and clubs are nearby and watch out at night.

Don't book, or you will be disappointed.

Well where can I start. Myself and two friends stayed here as the location was perfect but unfortunatly was disapointed in all other aspects of this hotel. We stayed in the two bedroom suite, which ended up being off the main bar area. One stage we left our room to find staff folding linen just outside our door which is also the main dining room as well as front foyer. The room itself has extremly worn out carpets and the walls were and furniture in main room filthy. I would not reccomend this place even though the location is fantastic.

My room was in the older Astor Building with the brick wall. I wouldn't say it was dirty per se but just creepy and gross. The carpet was worn down to the glue in most places, the shower curtain moldy, the couch very dingy and with a cigarette burn in the fabric, there was previous evidence of water damage on the walls, it felt very creepy crawly although I never actually saw any bugs. It was loud, the courtyard was in bad shape, everything was dusty, run down, and wobbly. The main door latch to the hotel lobby was duct taped open so not very secure. The front desk staff was overly efficient to the point of rudeness. The only good thing going for it was the convenience to the train station but it's actual location was a bit sketchy as I felt that it was in more of a red light district area... Gentlemen's clubs everywhere in the 6 or so blocks I had to walk to find a meal.
