Second return to Crimean in past 12 months and the meal and service was top standard. The menu is meant to share it it worked well with exceptional guidance from the service staff. All very tasty well prepared and presented. Atmosphere a bit quirky but works for us. Exceptional sour whiskey pre-dinner drink which had to be repeated. Is on the return list with a large tick. Well done.

Front of house, as in the outside walls, are covered in posters from Bulgaria and where the heck else delaying your entrance. You really want to stop and try to read them. The next front of house was jovial, quick witted and ever-helful. Born to the job. The rest of the staff were also attentive and happy Larrys all night. The three of us shared a few plates of some of the best pelmeni or vareniki, depending on your origins, that I've ever eaten in my life. No shortage of sour cream and dill, as required. I've probably eaten slightly better piroshki, but they would have either my own or my mother's. I prefer a more bready dough. One of us had a main and declared it fabulous. I had the quince pudding which also was delish and all the desserts were of ample proportions, as were we, by the time we finished with the drinks trolley and found our tram.

We chose this restaurant as it had an interesting gluten free menu. Not only is the menu interesting but the decor is mixed and the centre of many conversations.
Don't forget to leave room for the dessert and the special"trolley". Great tasting food with a very reasonable price. Enjoy.

The Crimean looks like nothing special from the outside, once inside there is a bar and tables at the front and a nicer dining area with candles and set tables. The service was great from the beginning. We sat at the bar and had fantastic cocktails, impressive to watch cocktails being created - not pretentious yet carefully constructed. The list of drinks is varied and interesting all with an Eastern block bent - bitters we didn't know existed which are housed in what looked like a medicine cabinet, wines from Transylvania and beers from Poland. We were not disappointed with the Tupolev TU144 and Finland Station cockail which was made with liquid smoke! We ordered the piroshki and vareniki dumplings and chicken kiev croquettes, all of which were a taste sensation. The waitress was excellent and looked after us throughout our stay, offering us a recommendation from the vodka trolley - a smoked vodka shot to accompany the dumplings "as this is what they would do traditionally". Needless to say we loved her touch and being led through the flavour combinations without being overbearing. She then recommended the shared dessert plate which was absolutely beautiful - pepper and cardamom chocolate mousse with rose marshmallow, fresh plum, white pepper tuile and honey pepper syrup served with a pair of mini cocktails that accompanied the peppery flavour perfectly. This was a wonderful to end our meal and absolute taste sensation. We left excited and wanting to visit again to taste everything on their menu. We liked that the care factor is high, prices are reasonable, pretensions are low. Chef is obviously passionate about the ingredients and flavour combinations, can't see how anyone would be disappointed here. We did see other diners ordering one main and sharing as these meals looked to be generous serves which would be make it challenging for one to try the dumplings and a main and a dessert and drinks, although you could probably have a good crack at that! We'll be back and be recommending this place highly.

Dined there last night. We had four plates for sharing. these were excellent. The wine we wanted by the glass was unavaialble so we got one that was usually sold only by the bottle.
Good place for a meal!
