Description: Ciao Cielo - literally translated from Italian as Hello Sky - is a sparkling addition to the Melbourne restaurant landscape. Situated on lively Bay Street, in Port Melbourne, Inspired by Art Deco elements, Milano sophistication and the glamour of the 40's. Original floor to ceiling boards, beautiful lead light windows dating back to the old shop row days when hardware was the trade. A look at the portraits on the walls show a tribute to the very much loved and missed Lloyd and Mary Grand parents whom past in the Black Saturday fires Bryan's food is about strong italian flavours reflected in the abundance of amazing produce availiable locally in Victoria. Bryan is by no means a traditionalist, he believes in the right to be as creative as one desires with what you are inspired with.

“What a gem!”
Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

We dined there on Saturday evening after finding this place by chance. Well what can I say...statrting with the service which I thought was excellent with the staff being attentive while not over bearing. The menus, written and specials, was extensive enough to make decisions difficult. Our meals were well prepared, delicious and portioned well. Highly recommend this place.

“Very professional”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

Ciao Cielo at 171 Bay Street, Port Melbourne is very professionally run. The service is much better than average, courteous, helpful, never intrusive. The meaning of its title: "Hello Heaven" (a bold choice which may baffle those who speak no Italian) is certainly rather ambitious to live up to but there were indeed heavenly privileges of discretion, for example, no smarmy and irritating enquiries about whether everything is satisfactory which disfigure so many Melbourne restaurants. We went there for a weekday lunch but even then it would be wise to book a table: tel (03) 9645 1568. The glazed spatchcock quail, was, just as promised by the staff, properly boned so that only a small effort was required to do justice to it: a discreet picking up of tiny legs to get at the best bits. The gnocchi and the pasta are house-made and of excellent quality. We also shared a generous dessert: a tiramisu. Wines available by the glass as well as by the bottle but no BYO. Lunch works out at somewhere between $40 and $50, for main course, dessert and a glass of wine. We much enjoyed it and would happily go back.

“Incredible service.”
Reviewed September 14, 2012 via mobile

My partner and I live locally and this is by far one our favourite restaurants. It's small and intimate without feeling too closed in. Great little oasis away from the sometimes hectic Bay St. The service here is second to none! Lindsay has always remembered our names and even wines we have ordered in the past! We have quite a few meals on the menu, the pork belly is superb but my favourite is the Moreton bay bugs w beetroot ravioli & truffle butter, such incredible flavours! Can't say enough great things about this place, love it!
