After waiting for more than half an hour our food came out.The wagyu steak was overcooked - at $50 it was a waste. The crocodile and chicken wings were also dry and lacked flavour. The wedges were good. Main meals were north of $25. Would not go back as not value for money and badly cooked food.

I went with the intention of completing the OBJ Challenge having discovered it online as one of the few eating challenges advertised. The website, online menu, and in-store menu all had different terms/conditions and prizes for the contest. When i broached the topic with the staff their only answer was, "Oh, that must be a company thing, we are just a franchise". No duh really? The steak was a steak, how can you really stuff it up too much. They certainly dissapointed me though and i won't be returning to that 'franchise'.

Empty restaurant was a guide to how bad this venue is. The service was non exsistant with 2 meals coming out followed 10 minutes later by the third. The food was almost unedible and the price was over the top for the quality. Steak ordered medium rare came out well done and tough. Would not recomend this venue.

Melbourne is truly a wonderful and enjoyable city to visit, with lots to see and do. Be forewarned: the price of dining out is astronomical! As an example, 2 thin-crust 11" pizzas and 2 beers were $55.00 US. A 3" cup of espresso-like coffee was $5.00 US. The food prices in Australia in general make NYC look like a real bargain!
In any case, while in Melbourne, take the free 'tram' (trolly to US citizens) to the northeast corner of the line and ask for the New Quay Promenade. This is a beautiful harbor-side development with beautiful vistas, modern condos and a bunch of restaurants, including Outback Jacks. While this is a pub-type bar, if you are looking for a great steak, a baked potato and salad, this is the place. Add a beer and a soda and the bill came to $68 which was quite reasonable.
Unfortunately, the entire area is underused. There were very few people there and the waitress said that this is how it is most of the time. The condos are also only half filled and many are rented out which may be worth looking into while you're, 'down under'.
Outback Jacks is a chain, but if my experience was typical, this is one chain worth checking out!

Anticipating their promise of "The largest range of steaks on any menu" we went to Outback Jacks for an enjoyable summer evening meal as a mature family of six.
The menu helpfully provides a picture of the degrees of cooking for every steak ranging from rare to well cooked and even adds that very well cooked steaks require 40 minutes.
We ordered an along came some very large stainless steel oval trays with our meals but don't be fooled by the size of the tray. The actual meal, apart from the smal dish of salad, would fit easily onto a regular sized plate and be much more convenient to eat from.
As for the food; well my T bone was ordered as rare but matched the picture of much more cooking than ordered and was pretty tasteless. The fillet was about a quarter inch thin and the meal a great disappointment.
The fish meal ordered by my wife was small and overall the food can best be described as mediocre - certainly not compatible with the price paid.
Our waitress couldn't get the bill right and had to seek help and my reflection on our experience as we left made me realise why so few tables were occupied!
I cannot recommend this venue.
