I accidentally stumbled across this place as I missed a stop on the train.
What a fantastic place to go it has sooo many shops and lots of different things as well. The food is of high quality and all the stalls were amazing:) it did remind me of the central markets in Adelaide.

The South Melbourne market never disappoints and yesterday was no exception. Even in the steamy heat the market was vibrant and alive with quirky stalls, shopkeepers and customers. Every taste is catered for, the food stalls are amazing and parking is ample.

Had a great lunch, so much to choose from , from food stalls to surrounding restaurants. If you go near closing time you can pick up cheap fruit and vegetables and half priced bread. Watch the massage places though as they will rip you off time wise if you don’t watch the clock and be firm. A 10 min $10 neck massage should go for 10 mins

Cant believe I had never been here before, what a gem for fresh produce and trendy stalls.
I recommend going on an empty stomach because the food is amazing.
Donuts, french pastry, paella. savoury pies, freshly cooked seafood. homemade pasta, cheese and deli delights.
Grab your fruit and veg, butchers and seafood to take home as well.
A short 15 to 20 minute walk from southbank

Super cool place to go with your family or friends! Even cooler fact is that South Melbourne Market was found in 1887!!! You can find everything pretty much there: fresh food and clothes, coffee and cleaning supplies:) So many awesome small and cute little bistros, so you could find anything you like to eat and drink!! It is open every day from 8am till 4pm.
We had a great lunch there - we tried a few different things from various small restaurants and got coffee and smoothie for deserts:)
Recommend!
Cheers :)
