We saw Olio had good reviews so we gave it a try and came away very disappointed. The servers were attentive at first but then they got busy and barely paid us any attention. I actually had to go ask them three times for the check after sitting at the table for over 10 minutes with finished plates in front of us.
As to the food, it was average and the portions were so small that we had to walk back to the food court next to our hotel and order more food. And none of us are gluttons. I ordered spaghetti and probably got around 2.5 ounces. For four of us the bill came to $76. Wish I could give them a good review as I love Melbourne, but cannot.

We were craving for an authentic Italian meal and thought we'd go to one of the lane ways. As we wandered along the Block Place, we were invited to look at the menu of Olio Cucina and thought we'd give this place a try.

The interior of Olio reminds me of a restaurant we went to in Rome. It almost felt like we were in Italy that night, especially with the music and the lovely Italian waitresses.

The warm bread was to die for. I had the salmon ravioli and my partner had the prawn & scallop risotto. Both were very delicious and the serving just right. I glanced a bit of what other diners ordered and a few ordered pizza which looked really delicious.

Coffee was delicious and our dessert, sticky date pudding was just OK. maybe we'll try the homemade tiramisu next time.

As we were sitting near the entrance, we could see diners leaving the place with a smile on their faces.

Thanks Olio Cucina -- you brought us back to Roma that night.

Looking for somewhere to eat we could hear some voices from this little arcade so down we went. This little restaurant was welcoming with the lovely Sam waiting on us.
We followed his recommendations and the food was perfect . The homemade bread was superb and snapper and soft shell crab cooked perfectly. Sam was friendly, flattering without being sleazy and service was good. Well priced with great ambience.

Wandered down a lane and found this delightful restaurant. Invited in and had a lovely lunch and good wine. Enjoyed a large screen showing some old Charlie Chaplin movies! Gold!

Walking through Melbourne CBD, came across Olio Cucina. Definitely the best pizza we've had. If it wasn''t so big, could've indulged in another. Meet Sam! What a character - lots of fun!!
