Worst Novotel, IBIS, Mercure breakfast this far. In Melbourne you expect to get real coffee. Now you get instant coffee and in case you want to have the real thing you need to pay $AUS3.50. I recommend to use the money for some outlet on the main street just a couple of hundred of meters away.

Ambience is not the best , looks like they might have needed more wait staff for a Saturday night. Good selection to choose from and great value for money. Needed to try and attract wait staff to take order. Garlic prawns and garlic bread as entree was good, salt and pepper calamari tough. When we received our steaks they were cold but the sides, chips and greens were steam hot. If the steaks were hot it would be have been very good meal. Do not take a person there if you are trying to impress as the decor is not the best and neither is the view of a construction site. While the construction is happening it would be good if curtains or blinds are put up and perhaps some candles would softern the decor a little and create a better ambience.

We ate our breakfast here every morning, as it was in our hotel, and we really enjoyed it. It was a continental buffet, so there was something for practically everyone, and everything was freshly prepared and was constantly being replaced and replenished. However, we got a deal where our breakfast was free as we had booked for over 4 nights, which was the offer at the time. Had we not got this deal, we may have gone elsewhere as it was quite expensive otherwise.

The meals were about $18 each. They certainly weren't huge, but very filling. I'd eat here again. Find this estaurant on the 1st floor of the Mercure Welcome Hotel.

For a restaurant within a hotel, you could be forgiven for expecting a lack of ambience - somewhat true and the vista across a building site on Little Bourke Street doesn't make for the greatest view, but the food more than makes up for the shortcomings of the outlook. The service is attentive and, for the quality of the food, the prices are extremely reasonable. Great range on offer for breakfast too.
