Pop is a great Hardward Lane find, with friendly and fun service and a fairly standard menu, although we all agreed it was done very well. We all loved our choices, although the duck main course dish on the menu wasn't as outstanding as the other dishes.

What is a let down though is the wine list, as others have mentioned. The problem wasn't so much that it was expensive (everywhere is), but the list was very limited, with almost nothing from Victoria, and at the $60 and below price point, there was hardly any choice. To be fair, there was hardly any choice above $60 either! Wine matching to the food was almost impossible, as there was very little on the list which was a suitable match. The wine list shouldn't be too difficult to fix, and it does spoil a great meal.

But 4 stars for a fun night out and great service.

This restaurant took on two families, with no prior bookings, on a busy Saturday night. No mean feat!! despite the challenge, the staff were more than accommodating. The food was totally scrumptious.. we had the paella and it was devine. The drinks weren't bad either :-) We had an outside table which was lovely and warm,, thanks to the outdoor heaters. A lively, buzzy atmosphere, fitting in with the rest of the venues in Hardware Lane. Highly recommend.

Pop is one of those busy Hardware Lane restaurants that competes for you to sit down and the lottery is then who's cooking and who's your waiter. We never really felt they tried once we were seated.

We had the usual mix of backpacker and student waiters but the kitchen seemed to do a great job keeping up with the orders and keeps the food coming despite the crowd.

The menu is pretty limited and a few of our small group had trouble finding something that appealed but the rack of lamb and eye fillets that were ordered came out cooked perfectly and tasting great.

The wine list is very ordinary with few known names and a disappointing range with few choices.

Menu didn't look overly great (everything served with potato - what is that at a classy restuarant?) but it tasted great.

I visited this restaurant on a Thursday evening with some friends. It is a very competitive market on Hardware Lane so any restaurant needs to be 100% on their game.

The benefit of the competition is that the restaurants will all offer you some kind on incentive to dine with them. We were offered a round of drinks and a Cheese Croquet tapas starter.

Food:
Entree - Cheese Croquet starters were amazing, very well done and the perfect starter to our meal

Main - I went for the Veal Scalopini, the veal was perfectly cooked, my guests had the Duck and the Chicken Breast. Both enjoyed their meal.

Price - probably not as good value as some of the other places on Hardware Lane, I usually eat at MAX's but this time we wanted to try something different. But that being said it was probably only about $40 per person for meal and a couple of drinks. Not cheap but not super expensive.

Overall: service was prompt and pleseant, probably would not go again unless they were offering some specials, there is better value to be had at Hardware Lane.
