On a whim in Melbourne decided to take my son here for dinner, and we were very pleasantly surprised, the Tapas was very good and we shared each dish, Asparagus, Olives, and a plate of fabulous ham. We the had a Paella that was superb, based on sausage and meats, and washed it all down with glasses of Sangria. We sat upstairs and enjoyed a quiet corner.

Great tapas spot, tucked away down a little lane. Good service, great tapas, great wine choice, all served in a suitably rustic venue. A touch overpriced but overall an enjoyable meal out.

This was our third visit to Portello Rosso, and we were not disappointed.

We chose to have the "Chef's Choice" vegetarian menu, which consisted of eight courses and included one desert. This proved the right thing to do with lovely stuffed capsicum, a vegetarian paella, courgette and corn fritters and a very tasty mushroom and tomato dish, amongst the dishes we were served.

Service was unobtrusive, but attentive.

The only downside was the fact that on Thursday to Saturday double sittings are catered for and we had to leave by 8:30pm. This however can be avoided by booking a later dinner.

P.S. Sit upstairs if you want a more intimate dining experience.

I've been to this place a number of times and its a delight. From the decor to the great staff to the delicious food.
I love to sit upstairs, small though it is. The whole place has a warm, welcoming feel.
Let the knowledgeable wait staff suggest something for you and you won't be disappointed.
