- spicey whiteing (not ordered but served and because it was rolled at the edges with deep frying it looked a little like calamari entree we HAD ordered)
- 45 min later the calamari finally arrived....reminded twice (entree size).
Nice, spicy but quite tough.
The highlight was the PEKING DUCK.
Very tasty, not at all as oily as duck can normally be. QUANJADE specialises in a particular style of preparation making it a little drier (but not dry).
Ask for extra scallions and sauce early otherwise the staff wait and you scrimp when making your pancakes up early in the meal.
We then had the Sichuan, spicey prawns. Very tasty but the Thai sauce was a little over bearing for the prawn flavours.
Overall, the meal was very nice.
I had a half bottle of Henschke blend, which wasn't perfect with the food but I really wanted to try the wine!!!
Average service is the only thing that really let the experience down. The long wait between courses and the muck up of the order took the edge off.
As a general reminder, if you've been seated and given menus before others have arrived, general etiquette is to take your order first.
