“A great quality new hotel in a great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012 via mobile

Stay here 2 or 3 times a month. For the price it is hard to find a better location and quality. I was so impressed with this simple hotel that I have since organised for all my staff to stay here when visiting our Melbourne office. Two things could be improved, 1. better breakfast ... For the price there are a dozen better places for breakfast in the surrounding area. 2. A simple bar would be nice ... But I guess again there are a lot of bars in the area.

Have stayed here over 15 times and I'll be back again in a few weeks :)

I stayed at this hotel 25th September '12 and was plesenatly surprised from the moment I hit the front desk to the moment I opened the door on the spacious room.
The hotel is ideally located for my business and the rooms were clean, modern and very comfortable.
There were only two things that I thought were a little unusual.
1 - the bathroom vanity is in the main part of the room and not the bathroom - why the wall was not extended ton include the vanity is anyones guess
2 - the show door opened inwards - so to turn the shower or your arm cops a blast of cold water and if you're over excited and have it run to hot you scold yourself trying to cool it down

Otherwise a quite, clean comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Staying on a higher floor might get you a view

I stayed at Citadines on Bourke for four nights on a business trip. First of all it's not a fully serviced hotel so there is no minibar or any other luxuries that you would expect at a five-star hotel, so it's important to take this into account when you book (i.e. it may not be appropriate for a romantic getaway for some people). However,I found that the room had everything I needed - small but fully equipped kitchen, minimal but modern bathroom and lounge area - and the service very efficient and friendly. They also had a gym, a heated lap-pool and a sauna (all looked nice) but I didn't use them as I was feeling a bit under the weather.

The location is very central and handy to Collins St and Bourke St mall. The free tourist shuttle also stops just around the corner from the Citadines. Only things that I felt they could improve on were the bathroom plumbing (the room had some sewage-like smell which I think due to plumbing problems, it gets better once you turn on the fan but when you first enter the room you notice it) and the mattress that sunk down, which I didn't find comfortable personally as I prefer firmer mattresses.

As some other reviewers have already pointed out the room has basin outside the bathroom. I didn't find this disturbing but it can be a negative for others.

Overall, the place provides a central and convenient accommodation at a great price. I'd recommend this place to my friends.

I have a thing for clean, functional and modern hotels and this was perfect. Location is awesome too, there's a Russell/Bourke Tramlink stop literally right outside the door, and this hotel is in perfect proximity to all the major shopping/eating areas on Bourke, Swanston and Collins St. I stayed in the 2 bedroom, 2 bath unit with 5 people and it couldn't have been more roomy and comfortable. They were able to give us 4 single beds + 1 rollaway (for an extra $50 AUD per night), which was huge - pretty much a regular size single bed. The beds were so comfy! The only cons I can think of were they did not provide any toiletries and the space in the rooms were too small to accommodate our giant luggages comfortably on the floor, but we got by (you can shove them in the closets). You might end up paying a bit more (I paid about $275/night AUD) but I think it's worth it especially with that many people. There's also a full kitchen with fridge and microwave. For reference - I am 29 and was travelling with all friends. Stay here, do it.

Citadines is a reasonably new apartment hotel on Bourke St, two blocks from the Bourke St Mall (5 mins walk). The room rate was very competitive given the location and facilities. The room was very clean, bed very comfortable but the pillows were like "pancakes"

The main downside to the stay was the buffet breakfast in the restaurant (Heirloom) attached to the hotel. I must say the restaurant has nothing to do with the hotel being independently operated. Do not get a buffet breakfast from this restaurant. The cost is $25, the food was mostly warm at best but dried out. For the price you get coffee from an urn and a choice of lots of different types of tea as long as it's cheap, Tetley black tea.

Room Tip: If traveling there by taxi tell the driver it's on Bourke between Russell and Exhibition Streets...

I purchased 2 nights accomodation in this hotel on a accomodation websites "mystery " hotel. ie; didn't know which hotel it was until after I had paid online. Although I had never heard of Citadines I already knew the location was perfect, right on Bourke street, 1 block north of the mall ( aka the shopping) The receptions staff were very pleasant to deal with, the rooms were very clean, I think it's a fairly new hotel or an older hotel that's had a major revamp. The room we had was a studio with stove, bar fridge, sink ( inc utensiles),lounge and lounge area ( the bedroom and lounge room could be devided by a floor to ceiling sliding frosted glass door, so made it more of an apartment rather than a studio). The sink, mirror and vanity was outside the shower and toilet room, so I could put make up on and blowdry my hair while my husband was using the shower. I would definitely stay here again. The only negative is that they do offer room service, but it comes from a restaurant separate from the hotel and is quite expensive. I wanted to have a bucket of ice for our room and it was going to cost $10?! But I suppose that's the only downside to the upside of having a fully functional kitchen, you are able and expected to cater for yourself for all your service needs! Overall it was great.

This hotel is great value for money. Located in central Bourke St there is a tram stop right out front and plenty of taxis day and night. You are walking distance from the central malls and shopping areas without being right in the craziness of it all. There are also plenty of great dining options around so really everything is covered.

The rooms themselves are modern and clean, functional and quite spacious. For the discount rates that can be found online there really is no reason to hesitate to book here - you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: There seems to be two room types: regular room and room with a divider like a studio apartment. Both...
