Located in the heart of the Crown Casino complex you couldn't be more conveniently positioned to take advantage of Melbourne. Entry is gained off the street or via the myriad of walkways and concourses that make up the megalith that is the Crown. Skirted by mid end shopping, culinary options galore and nightclubs within a hop ski and jump. If your after the more high end shops simply wander a little further east along Southbank to the Crown Towers end of the Casino complex and your can max out our Platinum Visa while impressing your trophy wife no end. On arrival the staff are pretty sharp and efficient and friendly enough considering the sheer volume of guests they need to process every day. Luckily I landed an upper floor number 24 with some pretty impressive views back towards the city-scape. Like any good hotel it had a gym and a pool but not just any gym and pool at 20m lap pool on the 27th floor overlooking the city, with a plunge pool and loungers located nearby to recover from any over arduous excursion. Being encased entirely in glass its like being on a Thai Beach basking in the sunshine no matter what the changeable Melbourne weather is throwing at you. The gym has a few free weights, an adjustable bench, swiss balls, yoga mats, life fitness cardio equipment and an array of machines, its not pumping iron by Arnie but its one of the more well equipment and maintain hotel gyms I've been to and definitely the best view from a hotel gym I've ever had. For the ladies and metro sexuals there is a spa of course offering a range or treatments I didn't pay to much attention to. Above /To the side of the pool is 28 a roof top bar and restaurant with a view to die for. Its spacious and has a penthouse living room feel about it a must do, but there wasn't to much happening on a Monday or Tuesday evening. The bed was in the top 3 hotel beds I've ever had, pitty the night time attractions limited the amount of time I got to enjoy it and when you eat Pringles after a night out in bed its further diminishes your comfort levels but I still left with the desire to immediately return if for nothing else a darn good nights sleep. Shark week was on too so a morning spent in ultimate comfort alternating my gaze from the Great White action on TV and the city views was a real highlight of the trip. You can see the TV from the toilet if you lean forward as the bathroom can be enclosed or open right up if you pull back all the shutters, this is a real bonus when Mythbusters Shark week episode is screening. Overall this was an A1 top notch hotel experience and I wouldn't change a thing except FREE Wifi, while the hotel picked up my tab for the wifi, surely there must be a move a foot to make this a pure and simple right for every traveler. No one buys the $20 wifi so hotels don't make any money back from it so there is no point charging at all, see it as a service that is appreciated by the customer and also used to help market you venue enabling anyone who wants to, to write a glowing review such as this while still at the hotel. Thanks for the magic stay team one of my best ever.
