Stayed 3 nights recently in a room on 15th floor with 2 queen beds. There were 3 of us for 1 of the nights and no problem with size of room. Reading about Bathroom was a little concerned prior to checking in. The bathroom has sliding doors that close it off from bedroom however if you wanted the openess dont close doors. The toilet and shower doors can be closed for privacy. Really, there were no problems with bathroom what so ever and dont really know why people complaining. The bed was very comfortable. Amenities excellent and first class quality. Magazines in all rooms which was a nice touch. This is a reasonable new modern hotel and minimalistic in hallways etc but really, you are walking to your room and do you stop and look at paintings, pot plants etc. Had access to 28 for a couple of nights and if you can get this included in your room rate, it is excellent. Views are fabulous and have a beautiful Gas fire which is beautiful to sit around. The bar opens about 5.30 with free drinks and nibbles and access to free breakfast. The breakfast had all you require with hot dishes, the best muesli and good selection of cereals, fruit and breads/pastries. They can also cook you selected dishes in the menu. The location is easily accessible to Casino, Exhibition Centre, Southbank,
DFO South wharf. If going into the city, the tram stop is just outside door and takes about 5 minutes. Southern cross station is a 7 minute walk. Lovely little restaurants in South Melbourne's Clarendon St which is nice 10 minute walk. There is a shopping area linking Metropol to Crown Casino which has several nice shops and so many restaurants in Crown Casino I couldnt start to list them. We didnt eat at Maze restaurant as had read bad reviews however we did have room service one night which was quick and reasonable priced for the burgers and tasted good. We dined at a Buffet called Kitchen in crown that I wouldnt recommend as very crowded and noisy. Food was ok. We also ate a couple of other restaurants and a bar near the Cinema which was very good and great value. The pool area is fabulous and have day beds to lay around on enjoying the wonderful views of Melbourne. The pool itself is great too. We were there for a birthday celebration and they sent Champagne and Chocolates to the room which was very appreciated. If i visit Melbournee just to shop, then maybe would stay a little closer to the city centre but will be back to Crown Metropol without doubt, and will try to get 28 included in the price. Crown Towers is a little more luxurious but considering the price difference, Metropol would be my preference.

Room Tip: Try to get "28" included in your rate or look at paying the extra to include it. Great vie...

Elegant simplicity with a sophisticated manly style. The rooms are so well designed you feel as if the rooms are very spacious when in fact they are quite small. Fantastic location just off the Crown casino With and i-Pod docking station, flat screen monitor, wonderful desk and chair, it’s the perfect business setup. The spa was not what I expected. No sauna, but Jacuzzi, the steam room is far from relaxing, when the steam is flowing, 70% of the time, it sounds as if a jet airline is about to take off. Staff are friendly enough, but what lets this hotel down is its restaurant. Although I have only frequented for cocktails that were good, and breakfast that was the worst I have ever had in a hotel. Cold eggs, sweaty cheese curling at the edges, and hostile waitresses does not make for a good start to the day. The price tag for the joke of a breakfast is also an insult. However, whenever I have a function at the casino I always choose the Crown Metropol. After all you can always choose one of the restaurants on the riverside for a good feed.

I have just stayed at this fine Hotel and have stayed there at least ten previous times. Each time there is just a little tiny thing holding back a 5 star experience.
Rooms are well designed and modern - exactly what you would expect from a brand new hotel.
Facilities are first rate, from the pool (you must check it out even if you dont use it) to the health spa and drinks bar. Hotel generally is a quiet place - but depending on what is on at the time can get rowdy with some groups, once inside your room though it is very quiet. Regardless of the side of the hotel you end up in your view is generally pretty good - you cant beat the city view though.
Very good hotel though and would definately reconmend.......now for my very picky negatives - I mention these only as they take the gloss of a 5 star experience so keep it in perspective and dont let it take away from you trying it out.
1. Pulled up out the front for check in - was pretty quiet out the front and the 'bell hops' or vallets what ever you want to call them were chatting amongst themselves. I unloaded 3 suitcases and proceeded to the check in counter. Checked and then had to go back out interupt their chit chat and ask them to park the car....not a $40 vallet parking experience worth 5 star.
2. Booked a non smoking room prior to arrival. Then was asked what sort of room would I like and they would try and find me a non smoking room....it was like I had not indicated my preference. With all the carry on going on at the moment can you believe hotels still have smoking rooms??
3. Requested papers in the morning. Open door - none delivered to room. Another great reason for staying with kids - challenged one of them to run down the passage to grab one from another room :)...........sorry room 1569!!
4. Pillows in room of which there were 8 - everyone were the same! No variety as all were massive.
5.4 people in our room but there were only towels for 3 people.....you dont check this as soon as you walk in the door and as per usual you find out at the last minute.
6.Maze bar. $10 for a beer and $16 for a glass of bubbles......all good and well but the service is terrible. What are the high dollars for - service??
Thats it!! Very picky - if these were covered 5star all the way!

Room Tip: If you dont need a twin room ensure you make it clear you want a king room with city views. These ro...

This was a very expensive hotel and was very disappointing. The room was OK but the bathroom was a joke. On WOTIF it mentions a 'separate bathroom' which seemed quite odd (since what hotel doesn’t?) But in fact there is no separate bathroom! The washing area is separated from the bed by a screen only and then the toilet and the shower are each in little glass cubicles that magnify every sound. I do not want to listen to my partner using the toilet and I am sure nobody else does. Whoever thought this was a good idea? I would never return for this reason, even if everything else was OK, which it wasn’t. The breakfast in Maze restaurant was really poor. The bread for toast was stale and when we asked for some bread that wasn't stale, had to wait for ages, by which time of course our coffee was cold. Fruit had run out and wasn't replaced. Nobody seemed to be in charge! When we went to collect our valet-parked car we had to wait for ages for it, and also were asked to go into the luggage room to identify our luggage although it had been tagged. What on earth is going on in this hotel?

The location makes it easy to access all the great restaurants that Crown have on offer. The rooms are brand new and very spacious although we found the bed a little too hard for us. We often get good rates and stay here once every couple of months and will keep coming back. Check out on the weekends is a joke, better to do the quick checkout offered.

Fantastic and lovely hotel - overpriced but you have to expect that given the location and given it is linked with the Crown Casino.

The pool is amazing and has fabulous views of Melbourne. The gym is 5 star quality and the rooms are phenomenal! Modern and classy!

We stayed here on the night of our engagement and it was fantastic.

If you need a place to stay in the heart of Melbourne this is the place to be - much better than Crown Towers in my view!

The only negative is I have had much better welcomings at other cheaper hotels, something Crown needs to work on...

Bright, sunny, extremely quiet. Spacious rooms two toilets, 3 TV's, large bath exceeded all expectations. Fantastic pool with the best views. Had access to level 28 how great was that. Location and access to city is great. When in Melbourne I will not be staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: Loft rooms are the best.
