We spent about 3 hours wandering around and looking at the library’s various exhibits. We enjoyed looking at original copies of many famous books including The Hobbit. Another highlight was reading the story of Ned Kelly and getting to see his armoury. This is better for older children or adults as there are few interactive areas.

A great place for a rainy day in Melbourne and even on a nice sunny one when I was there. Free internet, tables with power points, lots of books and papers to sit and read. The building itself is worthy of a look round, make sure you get to the top for a look down on the reading room. There is always an exhibition or two on display. Lockers if you want to leave things safe for a while in the city and a small cafe on the side. All this and it is free. Dropped in for a quick look round, and ended up staying for 2 hours and have already planned a return visit.

This building has amazing architecture, and the reading room is awesome, and entry is free. A beautiful old building in the CBD.
