Cute little display/exhibition on the history of food production since the beginning of Melbourne. To be honest, I'm assuming it was the State Library so apologies if that is wrong. Although free and quite small, it was very interesting to see the humble beginnings of Vegemite and Freddo Frogs, amongst other things.

Stopped here to catch the free Wifi. Although didn't checkout the rest of the resources... But it looks a like an impressive building.

The outside is lovely and a great meeting place. The free city circle tram goes right by, the Melbourne Central station and shopping mall is opposite too and just to the south is QV shopping centre which is a good place to get some food!

It was well spaced out and I just loved the old building. The security surprised me but there were lockers to place your bag.
There genealogy area just blew me away. I could spend days in there, it was amazing.

Well patronised by students of all ages the main reading area is worth a look. The dome lights the area and the old desks are still there bathed in white reflected light contrasting to the old days of dark Victoriana woods and stern librarians.

Go inside catch the lift to the top floor and work your way down the next few floors and take your time viewing the wonderful displays that are set out so well. Ned Kelly's armour is in here as well as his death mask!! See the recently restored dome (ca 2009) allowing the light back in making the library much more inviting. There is an exhibition space downstairs which always has interesting museum style displays. Free wi-fi. Cafe attached and much more - worth a visit.
