Stayed at The Olsen with my husband and son for 2 nights in a Deluxe Studio room, and then for 2 nights by myself in a Studio room. The Deluxe studio room is a very good size for the king bed and rollaway bed - plenty of room for three of us. The Studio is smaller (as expected), but still a great size for two people. I appreciated the kitchenette, and while I didn't cook it was great to be able to have a comfortable breakfast in the room as I prefer to start the day with my own cereal and fruit. I was thrilled to have the best sleep in years in the amazing beds. The service was excellent: friendly, genuine, competent - all the things hotel service should be but often isn't in Australia. Even my 15 year old son commented on how nice the reception staff were. I was particularly impressed with one of the reception staff who remembered my name, surely almost unheard of in a full hotel. The pool really makes this hotel. After 4 days of watching tennis, the pool was a wonderful way to relax in the evenings (and mornings too). We all loved The Olsen and will definitely return on future trips to Melbourne.

A friend and myself recently stayed at the Olsen for a 3 day break. We had booked a room with two beds but on arrival the room that we received only had one bed. When I advised reception of the problem, they apologized profusely and found a different room for us immediately. To our delight we were upgraded to the Jacuna Suite on the 10th floor. We were thrilled with the result of the booking error :-) The suite was absolutely beautiful - two king sized beds, two gorgeous spa en-suites, wonderful decor and views, a lounge area - we had friends visit us just so they could see us lolling around in luxury! All the staff we came into contact with were delightful - from the valet, the houskeepers to receptionists. We will certainly return - though unfortunately we may have less celubrious accommodation on our return.

Room Tip: If you can possibly afford it, go for the Jacuna suite on the 10th floor - you'll love it.

Just wanted to say on behalf of myself and my family a gigantic THANK YOU! for your wonderful service and facilities. We enjoyed every minute of our stay with you guys. A special thank you to Kate, Craig and Paul for their exemplary service - these people are wonderful examples of the kind of people that should be in hospitality - caring and genuinely concerned with providing exceptional customer service. They did themselves and The Olsen proud. We have now found our hotel of choice when visiting Melbourne and hope to revisit time and again over the coming years. Yours most sincerely, Kim Scott (on behalf of The Scott Family)

The hotel is very nice rooms are small compared to other hotels in Melbourne but well appointed .
Bathroom is small but shower is nice .If you stay ask for a room on a high floor away from the street , the noise of the trams is quite bad on the road side .I was on level 4 and it felt like the trams were coming into my room .

I don't think there is any way our stay could have been improved.
I came to stay with my daughter and two of our friends as a belated birthday gift for my daughter.
The service was wonderful, nothing was too much trouble.
We stayed on the 10th floor, and had an awesome view down Chapel Street. It was nice watching the trams at night, especially.
Pool Club on Sunday was great. We had had a big couple of days organising and travelling up, so music, sun loungers, berry mojitos and that incredible pool was the perfect wind down before we started properly reacquainting ourselves with Melbourne.
My daughter has decided that we need to move in! Though we're already planning a return visit.

Room Tip: Go up high for the view!

Rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The location is a bit away from the centre, but lots of nice shops and restaurants close by and taxis are easy to find and cheap so we didn't mind. The staff are very friendly and helpful - we really enjoyed a tip from the concierge to visit St Ali (and would have never found it without the recommendation) and found everyone at reception to be just lovely. Nice toiletries and well-stocked, good value mini-bar. The one thing that stops me giving five stars was that the pool was freezing so we couldn't swim - I am sure that more committed swimmers cod have braved it, but we found it cold - esp with wind channelled through with a semi outdoors environment. But that was a tiny disappointment and would stay here again or try one of the other art hotels on the basis of this stay.

Wonderful hotel, second week of our honeymoon in Australia and this was spot on. Hotel staff friendly and the location was good for coming and going to cafés and bars and we were very impressed with the art in the halls and room.
