Stayed at the Olsen for two nights. The hotel is perfectly located for transport, shopping and nightlife and the room was well appointed. I would definitely recommend the Olsen.
The only negative comment I would make is that there's no free Wi-Fi which I would expect from a 5 star establishment.

Our family recently stayed at The Olsen Hotel over a three day period. We had an absolutely fabulous experience. The Hotel's artwork is amazing and its decor fabulous. The Reception staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful; nothing was too much trouble for them. They were knowledgeable in explaining the artwork in the Hotel and provided good advice on close-by restaurants. The rooms are simply gorgeous and well equipped - the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We dined in the restaurant each day and had wonderful service and food. We also swum in the swimming pool which is divine. The Olsen Hotel provides a total awesome experience, and I cannot wait to come back again!

Stayed with family September 2013.

Dear Pam P

It’s fantastic to hear you and your family enjoyed your three day stay with us at [The Olsen] The artwork the adorns the hallways, rooms and gallery spaces is a important element of [The Olsen] All of our staff from housekeeping through to upper management are all trained in the artwork of John Olsen by Our in-house Art Curator. As for our beds, they truly are like sleeping on clouds. They are so popular we even sell them.

We look forward to welcoming you and the family back to [The Olsen]

We booked this hotel for a family special occasion, so there were 10 of us (which included 5 grandchildren aged from 6-16 years). We booked 3 rooms, one of which was a suite with two king size beds and living area that we could all congregate in - there was also a good sized outside balcony where we could sit in the sunshine. The rooms were all spotless, light and airy and a good size, and the bathrooms modern in tasteful colours and included nice products. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The children (and adults) enjoyed the pool area, the sundeck above and the gym. We also really liked all the Olsen prints in the foyer, in the corridors and even the elevators.
We all had breakfast at the café adjoining - this was the one area that wasn't quite as good, with the food only average and the prices high for what we got.
The location of the hotel was excellent, with Chapel Street great for shopping, restaurants, and heaps of coffee places. The trams were only minutes away to go to Southbank and the city.
The best thing of all was the friendliness of the staff at the front desk, who were only too happy to help our group. Mention must be made of the main concierge Paul, who gave us absolutely excellent service, helping with parking of our cars, providing extras when he knew it was a special occasion, including activity packs for the younger children. Nothing was too much trouble for him, and we all appreciated his friendly manner and willingness whenever we needed anything. Thanks Paul, you are a great ambassador for The Olsen, and you made our time there much more special. We look forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: If you have a family group the suite is good as it gives you space to all get together, and it has an outside balcony with chairs, sun lounges and table. Only drawback is that it was quite windy outside, but maybe that would be different in summer?

Wow! What an extraordinary find! In town for business I thought we'd also see the Monet Gardens exhibit. The hotel foyer was a great preparation with a huge yellow Olsen painting as one enters. The staff were exceptional - they clearly love their work - the room was large, airy and beautifully understated. Probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in and a great bathroom shower to wake me up. 5 stars at 3 star prices. I will definitely stay there again.

My friend and I stayed in a two-bedroom apartment for our birthday weekend, and it was terrific. It ticked all of the boxes for me, although there are a couple of things that could be done to really make it out of this world.

Check-in was excellent, and the girl was absolutely lovely. Concierge were always friendly and helpful. Mini-bar had interesting choices. Room service was excellent - we got it three times, and I had the same thing twice (I dreamed about it one night, too). Living area was lovely, with comfortable lounges and a cool dining setting. Bed was really comfortable. The bathroom toiletries were EVO. We got facials at the day spa and it was the best facial I've ever had - very professional, exceptional service. The bar downstairs was nice. The location is excellent, close to all the best shops, good restaurants, and a cool pub called the Sweetwater Inn.

The towels in the bathrooms were quite thin, grey and ratty, and totally at odds with the rest of the experience. - some nice towels would have made a huge difference (and is something the hotel can do something about). It had a balcony, but it wasn't conducive to outdoor relaxation - it was narrow and basically a wind funnel, so that was a bit disappointing. While the bathroom attached to one of the bedrooms was a fine size, the main bathroom was tiny. It was a bit strange that when the room was serviced each morning, they would just replace all the toiletries (even if only a tiny bit had been used).

Overall, I would definitely stay here again - we had a fantastic weekend.
