You're seated quite close to everyone, so getting in and out is a little interesting and it isn't table service, you order and pay at the counter but generally this is a great place for a hot chocolate and a cake or 3. You even make the hot chocolate to the richness you desire. It's fantastic

Love this place. Did not help that it was right across the road from my hotel so I could just 'pop in'. The service is always great, the selections wonderful and the chocolate shop is divine. I went home with plenty of delicious chocolates in my bag to share out with people.

First of all, atmosphere - great. As you walk in, it's chocolate galore and then past the cakes and to the tables. We went on a Sunday and it was packed. We didn't have to wait long, but soon after we sat down the line grew. We had the sharing platter and hot chocolate. For what the description in the menu is worth, the platter does not sound as grand. Still it was good. The hot chocolate was very sweet, maybe because I poured ALL the chocolate into the milk. One platter for the four of us worked out well because any more is too much.

Would return, but I wouldn't wait in a long queue to get a table. The LIndt chocolate was also 30% off, so $7 instead of the usual $10 per 100g. There are flavored you can't get in the supermarket, such as cookies and cream and peanut butter.

This was a very yummy indulgence. Shared a platter, a voucher, delicious Hot Chocolate, make it yourself to your strength... 2 cups. Platter consisted of fresh Strawberries, Cream, Icecream, Waffles, Hedgehog, Macaroons and Chocolates...with...chocolate to drizzle over.... So rich, so yummy. It is a special indulgence.

We visited the South Yarra Cafe for afternoon tea with the in-laws, one of whom had just turned 91 and the other who is almost 91, for her birthday.
My wife had called ahead to see if we could book because of their age and was told it will be busy but don't worry as soon as you get here we'll get you to a table.

Arriving at 3.30, as promised, it took until 4pm for a table to become available; we actually had to clear the dirty dishes from the table so we could sit down.

My wife presented the afternoon tea voucher straight away and ordered the hot drinks and was told it would be there soon.
At 4.15 she was told it was on its way, finally appearing at 4.30. My father-in-law's hot chocolate was cool; we had to ask for more hot milk.

The actual afternoon tea spread was nice but after the time we had waited it could not be properly appreciated.

The restaurant was very cold because the front doors were kept open; according to Jarod the manager this was a direction from management. Not surprisingly everyone inside was wearing their coats and it was still hard to keep warm.

On leaving Jarod said if we'd come as he claimed my wife had said at 11 he could have got us straight in; the trouble with that statement was the restaurant does not even open until midday so why would we have asked to come then.

All around us were uncleared tables with dirty dishes, with guests still trying to get it. There did not seem to be sufficient staff serving and clearing.

Maybe on another day things might have been different, but we won't be back to find out.
