“Beautiful Hotel”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

If you are visiting Melbourne this hotel is situated right on the wharf with views right the way along. If you book an Executive room you will be invited into the Executive lounge which serves free breakfast, afternoon tea and cakes and then in the evening free drinks and canapes

Loved the comfortable beds and pillows. I found the hotel location perfect to get around the city. Our executive room was spacious and very clean.

The Hilton is a fantastic place to stay. The staff was excellent and the rooms very comfortable

Room Tip: Get an executive room - well worth the extra coins :)

My husband and I stayed at this Hilton on the recommendation of a friend, so we knew it was away from the city centre, but by walking across the Yarra River you can access the free City Circle Tram which was great for getting round the city and sightseeing as well,( for shopping I recommend getting off the tram at Elizabeth Street and walking up to get to Collins St, Bourke St etc.)
If you are attending anything at the Exhibition or Convention Centres, the Hotel is right there and on the other side is the DFO shopping centre which has some very good outlets ie Tommy Hillfiger, Adidas, Nike and Country Road. We had an Executive Room with a lovely view over the river and enjoyed using the Executive lounge and its facilities, though it was very busy at times and could do with higher tables for eating, as the carpets were often dirty from crumbs being spilt on the way from the low tables to peoples mouths!! The reception desk in the lounge was often unattended, so some people had to find staff when they needed help. We gave up waiting for our luggage to be brought up to our room on arrival at lunchtime on Friday, after 40 minutes my husband went and collected it- this may simply have been because it was a holiday weekend so maybe there was a staff shortage or the hotel was just too busy. The room on the 13th floor was lovely with a big bathroom with bath, separate shower and toilet. The concierge Toby was very helpful with Restaurant recommendations, tell him the sort of food you would like and a price bracket and he comes up with good suggestions.( Do be warned many of the Melbourne restaurants are really overpriced, we have many friends who have commented that a lovely meal has been totally spoilt by the eye watering bill at the end of it). A swimming pool would be a nice addition to this lovely hotel, but we will certainly stay there again when returning to Melbourne.

Room Tip: Check room rates for stays of 2 or 3 nights as there are some good specials. The Executive room deal...

Spectacular views, good service, comfortable and spacious room. A short walk to entertainment areas, top restaurants and shopping. A short cab drive will get you to the Melbourne CBD or if you love a good walk it is a walkable distance. The Hilton Bars and eating areas provide great service and good food. We arrived as soon as we could to take full advantage of our stay. Shopping areas nearby have great gift ideas. We arrived close to check in time so we could enjoy the room and the views. Definatly will stay again.

Room Tip: The higher up in the tower you go the better the view. Pick a room on the city side for fabulous vi...

Had a room with a view straight up the Yarra River. Easy walking distance to Crown and restaurants along Southbank, and right next to DFO shopping centre. Rooms are lovely, and it was the best bed we have ever slept in (like sleeping on a cloud! seriously!!). Breakfast is amazing - definately book the B&B deal.

If you are visiting Melbourne this hotel is situated right on the wharf with views right the way along. If you book an Executive room you will be invited into the Executive lounge which serves free breakfast, afternoon tea and cakes and then in the evening free drinks and canapes. Well worth the extra room charge and a lovely place to meet people and exchange stories. The room itself is very well appointed and clean. Most of the main attractions are close by and certainly within easy walking distance. However if you prefer, the free local bus tour is worth doing, if only to get your bearings within the city. Immigration musuem and the War memorial worth a visit as well as the abundance of wonderful shops. The Wharf comes alive at night with bustling people enjoying the Restaurants and bars. Do not miss the beacon lighting.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the wharf.

After booking tickets to a football game at nearby Etihad stadium, I decided to book a room for myself and two of my children, so we could watch the game and have a bit of a treat afterwards. We arrived a couple of hours earlier than check in and the staff were happy to allow us to check in early, which was handy, since we didn't want to drag our bags to the footy! The public art at this hotel was interesting and a bit out there, but was a nice change to the sometimes generic art you find at hotels. Look out for the piece behind reception, you will never look at a pot scrubber the same way again!
The room was lovely, clean and with plenty of room for the three of us. Modern and with full length windows to give us a great view of the Yarra in all its choclatey glory. The gym was a bit average and they have no pool, which is also a disappointment. However, the walk to Etihand was easy and a part of Melbourne we don't often see, just drive past. Breakfast was included and was a typical buffet breakfast, with a great selection of well displayed foods. A small thing, but for those of us who fear walking accidently into hotel or restaurant kitchens, the arrangement of the buffet was confusing as it looked from one side to be part of the kitchen. Check out was speedy and they didn't give us grief about our little old car. You wouldn't stay here for long, but for a quick stop over, its not too shabby.

Room Tip: Ask for a river or city view

I decided to stay here for a single night when attending a function at the nearby Melbourne Convention Centre. I am disappointed as for the price, I woud have been better off getting an expensive taxi home.
The room on the sixth floor had a view of another building thus no view to speak of.
