“A little touch of Italy in Melbourne”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

I recently enjoyed lunch at this Melbourne establishment. I hadn't dined here for a while and now I wonder why not! The interior is bright and comfortable and the atmosphere unhurried. The lunch menu is extensive. I enjoyed the smoked salmon salad with a glass of Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc! Delicious! The coffee is great and the service attentive. Looking forward to trying the evening menu soon. Also, on the last Wednesday of each month they hold a musical evening upstairs. It is best to book for this.

“Uber Italian sophistication”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Caffe Latte consists of one medium sized room with an outlook onto Malvern Road. What makes the space is the amazing light fitting / sculpture, the eclectic Italian feel artworks and the white table cloths with various stripped cloth napkins. I really loved sitting in the restaurant. The service was good - who doesn't love a waiter with an italian accent that smiles at your kids! And the food was well executed and tasty.

“Pretty poor”
Reviewed October 16, 2012

I've eaten here a few times coz it's local, and I've always been disappointed one way or another. Portions are small, it's overpriced and inconsistent. Coffee used to be good, but also poor since recent renovations and change of staff

“Caffe Latte - steady, without a zing!”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

I dined hear last night with two other friends. This restaurant is right in the heart of a good Melbourne restaurant area. The establishment is not large by any means, but certainly is comfortable and a tolerable noise level.

The wine list is satisfactory and will please most palates.

Overall impression was that the service was a little slow and the service staff needed to be followed up to ensure what was requested was delivered in a timely fashion.

I enjoyed mussels for an entree, and they were enjoyable. Sadly, the mussel meat in several instances was small, to say the least. Nevertheless, this is not to detract from the overall enjoyment of the dish.

I followed this up with a veal main course. Very enjoyable, was finished with an green olive-based sauce which turned it into a delicious meal. We accompany their minds with roast potatoes with a sprinkling of rosemary. In my particular case, these complemented my veal perfectly. My two companions enjoyed the spaghetti and meatballs. And did enjoy them.

The deserts were very good indeed, I chose a chocolate pudding which was cooked perfectly and was accompanied by a ginger-based chocolate ice cream. Nothing to complain about there.

Prices charged were pretty much in line with a reasonably good restaurant today. They certainly weren't cheap and at $120 per head, including a very nice bottle of Shiraz, we went away quite happy.

Overall impression was very favourable, only criticism being the wait staff needing an occasional reminder.

Very suitable for business lunches and dinners and also for couples wishing some nice food.

Most importantly, I certainly will return there.

“Too noisy but food ok”
Reviewed November 26, 2011

Went there with a big group and though it has no view or much atmosphere the food was ok but expensive, tablesa bit too close together. Not much friendly service.
